Our trustees bring a wide range of skills, experience and perspectives to the board.

We're currently recruiting three new trustees and would love to hear from people of all backgrounds.

Hear from our Chair, Kathryn Monk, about the role and what we're looking for in new trustees.

The first large blue of the year has been spotted at Daneway Banks by our Land Management team and co-owners The Royal Entomological Society while discussing management of the nature reserve 🦋.

Check out this blustery clip - isn't it impressive how they manage to hold on in the wind!

Please remember to stick to footpaths if you visit, to protect the wildflowers that butterflies like large blues rely on🌼.

Thank you to the wonderful 13-year-old that took the time to write to their local MP, Cameron Thomas, and explain why nature is so important to them. And thank you Cameron for sharing.

Download your own postcard, or head to Robinswood Hill and Crickley Hill to fill in and post one 👉 gloucestershirewildlifetrust.co.uk/nature-matters-campaign

It's been a wonderful year for lily of the valley 🌼

Through evidence-led decisions, we are bringing back populations of native woodland plants which support a whole network of pollinators and other wildlife.

Exciting news! 🎉

A pine marten has been spotted near Cheltenham – the first confirmed sighting in the area in over 100 years. Once extinct in Gloucestershire, this remarkable species is making a comeback, thanks to successful reintroductions in the Forest of Dean.

Pine martens are a powerful symbol of what’s possible for nature recovery. That’s why we’re backing in the banknote vote. Through Mission Wild, we aim to build on this success across eleven landscapes in Gloucestershire.

🎥 Huge thanks to Tom Mabbett for sharing this brilliant trail camera footage.

How many painted lady butterflies can you spot in this video?

These butterflies are long-distance migrants, spreading north each spring over the Sahara in Africa, and then towards Europe.

On rare occasions, like this year and in 2019, conditions mean they arrive in large numbers in Britain, so make sure to look out for them before they leave for their autumn migration. 🦋

De-paving work has been completed outside the Subscription Rooms in Stroud 🌱

We’ve relieved the pressure on the roots of the Hornbeam tree to help it thrive 🌳

And added some flowering perennials to bring colour and wildlife diversity to the forecourt.

Thank you to The Subscription Rooms and Stroud Town Council for supporting us with this work ❤️

The Waterscapes project is possible thanks to Intact Insurance UK, Waterscape's founding partner, and partners, The Environment Agency and Gloucestershire County Council.

At this time of year, it's hard not to notice wildlife's wonders. Wildflowers are in bloom in parks and meadows, baby birds are practising to fly and bats are emerging at dusk to feed on insects. The rare nightjar and glow-worm are harder to spot, but in the Forest of Dean you might just get lucky!
