On this day in 1951 on the hills around the Korean village of Solma-Ri the Glosters came under heavy attack from Chinese troops. The Battle of the Imjin River had begun.

Just over 48 hours later the Gloucestershire Regiment would have truly cemented themselves into the pantheon of heroes.
