Abbey House opens its doors this weekend as part of Heritage Open Days!

Across the weekend of the 19th & 20th September, we invite visitors to step inside this unique 19th-century mansion and discover its history, inhabitants and hidden features.

Join a free guided tour every hour on the hour from 10am to 4pm, then visit our exhibition to see and hear about the house's past, or come and watch some Victorian tool repair skills with our costumed gardener.

And on Saturday evening, take a deeper dive into the everyday lives of the house's inhabitants and workers – from its construction by the Reeves-Porches to its use as a Retreat House for the local diocese – in our free talk, The People Of Abbey House.

So if you've ever wondered what lay beyond the stone arch on Chilkwell Street, or would just like to learn more about this lesser-known part of the Glastonbury Abbey estate, this weekend is the perfect opportunity to satisfy your curiosity.

Meet the Re-Enactors: Britannia

We're delighted to welcome Britannia to Glastonbury Abbey for Through the Ages, our multi-period re-enactment weekend on 26th & 27th September!

Britannia is an award-winning living history and re-enactment group dedicated to bringing the past to life through engaging, carefully researched displays. Drawing on archaeological and historical evidence, their talented team creates authentic and immersive experiences that balance accurate historical interpretation with exciting public spectacle.

For Through the Ages, Britannia will be portraying Britain during the centuries following the end of Roman rule, the period often associated with the legends of King Arthur and Avalon. Through their living history encampment, visitors can explore life in Britain's so-called Dark Ages, discovering the skills and culture that shaped the early medieval world.

Throughout the weekend, visitors will have the opportunity to meet the re-enactors, learn about everyday life in post-Roman Britain and handle replica artefacts. Don't miss their arena display, 'Arthur's Avalon: After His Final Battle'.

Britannia are part of Through the Ages, an immersive multi-period weekend featuring Roman, Romano-British, Anglo-Saxon, Viking, Norman, Medieval and Civil War re-enactors.

Glastonbury Abbey’s spectacular one-day music festival will return on 11th September 2027 – and you can already book your tickets 🎟️

We re-open from 2pm for a spectacular one-day festival featuring:

We’re nearly there! Before you head our way, here’s a quick checklist to make sure you’re ready for an unforgettable night:

🧥 Pack some layers — it might get cooler later, and remember, this is an outdoor event!

👟 Wear comfortable shoes — you’ll want to be ready to dance, wander and enjoy the evening.

🎟️ Make sure you’ve got your tickets!

Advance ticket sales end midnight tonight (11th September). You can grab yours online at https://glastab.be/NATA26, but don't panic if you miss the deadline - tickets will be available on the door from 2pm on Saturday 12th September!
