🦢 New arrivals on the Clyde!

Some of our mute swan eggs have just begun to hatch on our floating wetland islands with a few more still on the way by the looks of it. Mum is doing a wonderful job keeping her growing family warm and close.

A huge thanks to our very own Joe for capturing this magical moment — nature at its finest, right on our doorstep.

Have you spotted the family on your last visit? Let us know in the comments! 👇

It’s ! 🌿

Sustainability is part of the day-to-day for us at Glasgow Science Centre.

We were the first visitor attraction in Scotland to achieve Green Key accreditation, and we continue to meet those internationally recognised environmental standards year after year.

Here is what that looks like in practice:

📉 Emissions are down by 24.3% since 2018/19 thanks to better energy monitoring.
💡 Extensive LED upgrades have helped reduce energy use across the building.
♻️ Fully compostable Vegware is used for all our takeaway food and drink, with food waste composted.
🍅 70–80% of our food sourced from local suppliers and using seasonal produce where possible.
🦆 Our floating wetlands continue to thrive - we have over 2,000 native plants supporting local wildlife.

We’re proud to be doing our part in supporting Glasgow City Council’s target of becoming carbon neutral by 2030, and the Scottish Government’s aim of reaching net zero by 2045.

✒️ “The last time humans were that far from home, the world was a different place.”

Last month, NASA’s Artemis II mission had the world on the edge of their seat as its crew became the first to travel around the Moon - setting a new record for the furthest humans have ever journeyed from Earth.

But beyond the milestone, it also raises bigger questions about where space exploration is heading next, and who gets to help shape it.

Our resident astronomy enthusiast Nina Cameron has shared her reflections on what this mission means for science, society, and what comes next.
