Bit of a damp walk this morning but still muggy

Wren's, Robin's and Blackbird's seem to be the guys who make me up before 5am whether it is raining or just early sunrise - and some times accompanies by a Song Thrush...
This morning at 8.40 am, the rest of them joined in making more racket . . . well its delightful of course.
Goldfinch, Dunnock, Oystercatcher [lost or passing by ??] Woodpigeon Magpie, Jackdaw, Crow, plus Blue T**s, Great T**s, Coal T**s and a Siskin...
That's 15 in total. Wow. Thanks to Merlin for listening hard. I can now recognise the Blackbird by sound alone.

A Wednesday Walk. The 13th May. We ventured from the Linn Park Adventure Playground now run by Yard, and wandered via the White Bridge up to the Top Wood. Not a bad wander for a couple of aged gents [both nearing 80]..
We met a young couple who wanted to know how get into Linn Park. Sorted. What they really wanted to do was to pick Wild Garlic: what an excellent idea - add ham, bread and mustard for a really nice sandwich..
On to the Bridge. Sadly some of the paint is getting chipped off - but only down to the undercoat.
We remembered that we had suggested to the Parks Dept that two trees be cut down . . . well they both fell. One missed the bridge and has been wholly removed. The other has scrunched the fence and has been a tad hacked..
Off and up across the big old field. A lovely smell . . . the flowering thorn trees. We remembered aeons ago when the copse used to be maintained - no more..
And off up to the bench at the top. Being metal it should last a few decades . . .
Looking back towards the bridge one could clearly see rippled effect of strip ploughing over a very long period [when a village owned only one plough and the animals to pull it.] Every village family had it in turn and the went up and back round their strip so the soil moved into a ridge, and that also provided drainage..
Half way up we came to the path [used to be a road] from the stables to the Tea Rooms which used to be beside the hedge separating the park from the cemetery lands. In fact there were two roads close together - so no need for a U turn when making a delivery.

Nearing the top, the sun on the old [and wet] pines was fabulous. We enjoyed the view before returning.

A Great Spotted Woodpecker observed in Linn Park, foraging along tree trunks in search of insects—typical behaviour for this species within mature woodland habitats.

Advice on feeding birds to try and stop a highly contagious disease called trichomonosis . . .
And it is Dawn Chorus Day on Sunday 3 May. [Wake up at 5 am !]

We all want to help birds and make our gardens or outdoor spaces a place where all wildlife can thrive. But some species, such as Greenfinches, are experiencing serious declines because of disease.
