🚨 FIREFIGHTERS: DON’T WAIT FOR SYMPTOMS — GET CHECKED

Men over 40 can access FREE prostate testing through the Scottish Prostate Initiative.

The FBU Scotland is urging our male members to take advantage of this opportunity.

Why? Because prostate cancer can develop without obvious symptoms, meaning waiting until something feels wrong can mean waiting until the disease has already progressed.

🔥 Our members are exposed to carcinogens and toxic contaminants through the work we do. The DECON research has demonstrated the scale of contamination firefighters can be exposed to and the importance of effective decontamination and reducing exposure.

👉 If you’re a man aged 40 or over, get tested.

👉 Encourage your colleagues to get tested.

👉 Talk about it. Share it. Don’t wait for symptoms.

We fight for safer workplaces. We fight for proper protection. And we fight for firefighters’ health long after they leave the incident ground.

A great group of enthusiastic, engaged new reps, tutored by the legend that is Dave Smith. Inspiring stuff.
The next IBO course is running from 21 to 23 October in Perth but it’s filling up fast 🔥🚒👇

🔥Quite the statement from Neil Gray, The ongoing annual erosion of the SFRS budget by his government has stripped nearly £900 million of spending capacity from the SFRS, slashed over 1200 frontline firefighter posts and amassed a capital backlog of over £800 million in building maintenance costs. In 2023 the SFRS cut 10 frontline fire appliances and 166 firefighter posts due to budget pressures. In June the Board ratified a package of station closures, changes to firefighter shift patterns and reductions to emergency cover at nights and weekend. Perhaps the Cab Sec can explain how these measures aren't cuts?👇🔥🚒

🔥On Tuesday the Scottish Parliament debated "The Growing Risk of Wildfires" - the debate was heavily overscribed with MSPs from across the political spectrum raising multiple concerns about the fire resilience, the impact of cuts, firefighter numbers and Scotland's ability to respond to the climate emergency👇🔥🚒
