On Monday evening, we were delighted to welcome the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service to the Squadron. 🚒

The crew delivered a fantastic session on fire safety, providing our cadets with vital life skills and a greater understanding of the incredible work our emergency services do every day.

A huge thank you to the team for taking the time to visit us and for letting us get a closer look at the appliance!

Inspiring the engineers of tomorrow. 💡

Our squadron spent Wednesday evening exploring the cutting edge of aerospace technology at the Rolls-Royce factory. The cadets got a first-hand look at the factories that drive modern aviation, sparking plenty of questions about future careers in the industry.

We were pleased to be joined by cadets from 1701 Johnstone Squadron RAF Air Cadets — it's always great to collaborate and share these unique opportunities!

Well done to all the cadets who smashed their Bronze First Aid course over the weekend. From CPR to casualty care, these cadets have worked hard to earn their new badges.

A big shout-out to the staff who gave up their weekend to lead the training—we couldn’t do it without you! ✈️💙

Huge congratulations are in order for 15 of our dedicated cadets from across West Scotland Wing! 🌟

These cadets have officially earned their Bronze First Aid badges after successfully completing the Youth First Aid course training and assessments.

From managing minor injuries to handling emergency situations, they’ve proven they have the skills and the confidence to step up when it counts.

First aid is one of the most vital skills we teach in the RAF Air Cadets, and seeing 15 individuals from various squadrons across the Wing succeed together is a testament to their hard work and the quality of our instructors.

Thank you to 2175 Rolls-Royce Squadron RAF Air Cadets for organising and hosting!

Well done to everyone involved! Wear those badges with pride—you’ve earned them.

A massive well done to the three of our cadets who had the incredible honour of representing RAF Air Cadets at Murrayfield this past weekend.

It was a proud moment for the squadron to see them on such a prestigious stage. They carried themselves with absolute distinction and did both RAFAC and our squadron proud 🏉

Last night, we hosted our squadron’s annual awards ceremony. This is a brilliant opportunity for our staff, cadets, and their families and friends to come together to celebrate achievements from the previous year, and look ahead to the new year. We heard some inspiring words from our speakers, Chairperson of our Civilian Committee and former sqn OC, Flt Lt (Ret’d) Gregor Brad, and our Sqn chaplain, Reverend Stuart Patterson. We also had the immense pleasure of awarding our most recent initial training flight with their First Class certificates, a testament to their commitment and dedication since joining our squadron.

We are incredibly proud of each and every one of our cadets, but particular congratulations go to our well deserving award winners.

Cadet of the year - Cpl Ryan Close
NCO of the year - Sgt Emma Houston
Recruit of the year - Cdt Brodie Blair
Drill efficiency - Sgt Amelie Deb
Attendance - Cdt Cameron Lawson
Achievement in Sports - Cdt Adam Balicki
The William Brad Trophy for Achievement in Aviation - CWO Christopher Gordon

This evening was also special as we recognised the contributions of two former members of staff.

Civilian Instructor Dave Lacey joined 2175 in 2010, and has been a cornerstone to the continued success and development of our squadron. After a long journey with us, he made the decision to retire earlier this year.

We also expressed our gratitude to our former OC, Flt Lt Stuart McLellan MBE. After four years of hard work, he has moved on to take over 1701 (Johnstone) Squadron.

Thank you to our Civilian Committee for arranging such a rewarding evening.

🏆 West Scotland Wing Champions! 🏆

What a fantastic day for our squadron's football team! Despite the freezing conditions, six of our incredible cadets took to the pitch today for the West Scotland Wing 5-a-side football tournament.

A massive congratulations to our Over 16's team, who showed incredible skill, teamwork, and determination to take FIRST PLACE and bring home the well-deserved trophy for the squadron! 🏆

We're also incredibly proud to announce that several of our cadets have been selected to go forward and represent the Wing at the Regional tournament. What an achievement!

Well done to every single cadet who played! Your hard work is paying off. Good luck to those heading to Regionals!

✈️ Visit to British Airways Maintenance Hangar 🛠️

Last night, cadets from our Squadron and 2175 Rolls-Royce Squadron RAF Air Cadets had an incredible opportunity to visit the British Airways Maintenance Hangar at Glasgow Airport!

It was a fascinating and detailed look behind the scenes, allowing our cadets to see what goes into keeping commercial air travel safe and operational.

What We Saw:

• Inside the Aircraft: We got up close and personal, seeing the inner workings of an aircraft.
• Engineering Insights: The team gave us a fantastic understanding of the crucial maintenance and engineering that happens around the clock.

A huge thank you to the British Airways staff for hosting us and giving our cadets such valuable insight into the aviation industry's maintenance side!

Paying Our Respects: Remembrance Sunday 2025

Yesterday, the cadets and staff of 2175 (Rolls-Royce) Squadron RAFAC were honoured to attend the annual Remembrance Parade in Paisley.

We proudly marched to the Cenotaph to join our community in paying our deepest respects to all those who have served and sacrificed for our country.

Following the parade, the squadron held a private moment of reflection at the resting place of a former cadet who was sadly killed in action. This personal tribute ensured that their memory, and the memory of all fallen service personnel, lives on within our squadron.

"At the going down of the sun and in the morning, We will remember them."
