To have Derek McInnes ready to be announced at the same time announcing the departure of Danny Rohl is commendable by the board.

So many times recently we have known we need to sack a manager but faffed about appointing a new one.

Looking forward to seeing this one announced, and not the constant Steven Gerrard rumours dragging on.

McInnes coming to Rangers is very reminiscent of Alex McLeish arriving at Rangers.

Both came from sides in the Scottish league and didn’t arrive with a pocket full of medals as a manager.

But Big Eck certainly made an impact!

Alex McLeish brought seven major trophies to Rangers, most notably a famous domestic treble in the 2002/03 season.

As well as a league and league cup double in 2004/05.

Taking over in December 2001, he stabilized the club and delivered results despite operating under strict financial constraints.

With the backing of the American owners, you’d think the man that Walter wanted as Rangers manager will have the same impact.

According to Chris Jack,Danny Rohl is closing in on a deal to join RB Salzburg.

Rangers will look to finalise a move for Hearts boss Derek McInnes.
