At St Margaret’s we work with educational establishments to provide training to support those working with children to gain a better understanding of the long term impact of trauma and how to best to support them.

If you work at a school or know a school who would be willing to step up to the challenge which can be completed any time before the end of term – please email [email protected] for a fundraising pack.

We've launched the challenge to help plug a major gap in our funding this year.

For the past 65 years, we've relied on donations to our Christmas ‘Crib Appeal' collection’ boxes placed in churches during Advent. This year with many unable to attend due to Covid19 restrictions we could lose up to £100k in funding.

Donations fund our Extended Post Adoption Support Services (EPASS). These services are available to any adopted child across Scotland who may have experienced trauma and neglect and their adoptive families who come from any faith and none. In Scotland, the standard post adoption support lasts one year, our EPASS services extend far beyond this, for as long as people need help.

Donations to St Margaret's fund:

£20 1:2:1 support session for a member of our teenagers
‘Connect Group’
£40 Two teachers receive training on the impact of trauma
£50 One ‘TherAdopt’ pack of resources to support a new
family in the early stages of placement
£100 Five children attending Therapeutic Playgroup for an
entire term
£250 One person's ‘origins journey’ - from their initial
enquiry,
public records search, communication between all
parties through to a reunion, where appropriate
£500 A block of individual therapy e.g. Art/Play Therapy for
an adopted child
£1,000 Specialized training for a staff member to support the
St Margaret’s families

A DUNFERMLINE school stepped up to help launch a nationwide fundraiser this week.

We've just launched the 'Walk 1,000 Steps With St Margaret's' school fundraising challenge to help plug a major gap in our funding this year.

For the past 65 years, we've relied on donations to our Christmas ‘Crib Collection’ boxes placed in churches across the country during Advent. This year with many churches closed due to Covid19 restrictions we could lose up to £100k in funding.

Donations fund our Extended Post Adoption Support Services (EPASS). These services are available to any adopted child across Scotland who may have experienced trauma and neglect and their adoptive families who come from any faith and none. In Scotland, the standard post adoption support lasts one year, our EPASS services extend far beyond this, for as long as people need help including home visits, therapeutic playgroups, teenagers groups, peer support groups and family events.

Our campaign launched on Monday 16 November to mark the Feast Day of St Margaret and runs until the end of term.

The challenge is simple – schoolchildren are asked to complete a 1,000 step sponsored walk (about ½ a mile) around their playground or school grounds before the end of term.

If you work at a school or know a school who would be willing to step up to the challenge – please email [email protected] for a fundraising pack.

Thank you!
