We’re playing a leading role in a new study looking at how AI could help diagnose lung cancer earlier and keep patients safer.

Working with partners across the UK, the SWIFT-Lung study is testing new digital tools to help us spot and assess lung nodules more quickly, so people get the right care at the right time.

A key part of this is a system that automatically flags patients who may need follow-up, helping make sure no one is missed and reducing delays in diagnosis.

Lung cancer is still the most common cause of cancer-related death in the UK, so earlier diagnosis can make a real difference to outcomes.

By supporting our clinical teams with better information and prioritisation, this work aims to improve patient safety, reduce waiting times and make the diagnostic process less stressful for patients.

It’s Men’s Health Week, and many men delay seeking help or aren’t sure where to go. Small steps can make a big difference.

We’re encouraging men to take time to check in:

👉 How are you really feeling?
👉 Is there something you’ve been putting off?
👉 Could you check in on a friend?

During the World Cup, we're promoting a simple message for matchdays:

Half-time or after the match — make time to check in.

We’re proud to be hosting a major event with Glasgow Life and other local partners to showcase how arts and culture are transforming health and wellbeing.

Join us on Friday 19 June at the Glasgow Fruitmarket for Healing Arts Scotland Glasgow Day where we’ll bring together healthcare professionals, artists and creative practitioners.

It’s a great opportunity to explore how creative approaches are being used in healthcare to support person-centred care, improve patient experience and offer more choice in line with Realistic Medicine.

Through discussion, collaboration and live performance, we’ll highlight how the arts can support mental health, reduce social isolation and strengthen communities.

We’d love to see health professionals and creatives from across Glasgow and beyond there. Get tickets here: https://www.healingartsscotland.org/events/glasgow-day

At Lightburn Hospital, a special World Cup celebration earlier this week brought patients, staff and families together for an afternoon of music and entertainment ⚽

From group activities like music sessions and bingo to personalised experiences such as arts and crafts, therapy animals and pampering, teams are helping patients stay connected, engaged and supported during their time in hospital.

These activities aren’t just enjoyable; they can help boost mood, reduce anxiety and even spark memories, making a real difference to patients and their families.

We are delighted to see some of Greater Glasgow and Clyde's football clubs become Breastfeeding Friendly accredited. Our Health Improvement teams have been training organisations in the local community, advising them on how they can offer women and families breastfeeding support at their venues.

Partick Thistle FC have long been recognised for their welcoming and inclusive space for families and were the first football club to engage with NHSGGC regarding this training. Congrats to them and others who have undergone the training so far.

⚽ Going to be watching the World Cup? Use these moments to check in on your health.

As the competition brings people together, we’re encouraging everyone to take a moment to think about their health and wellbeing.

Many people, particularly men, put off getting help, but a quick check or simple conversation can make a real difference.

👉 At half-time: check in on how you’re feeling
👉 After the match: think about your physical health and any changes

Half-time or after the match — make time to check in.

If something doesn’t feel right, don’t wait. Get it checked and use the right care for your needs.
