'Midlothian North and Musselburgh CLP notes the ongoing dispute between RMT members and their employers (train operators and Network Rail). We note that the dispute has arisen over the threat of compulsory redundancies, the proposed imposition of changes to working conditions and the need for rail workers to have a negotiated pay increase which recognises the cost of living crisis. Midlothian North and Musselburgh CLP also recognises that the RMT dispute is reflective of wider disputes across the public and private sectors where pay, job security and working conditions have been eroded.
Midlothian North and Musselburgh CLP sends it's solidarity with RMT members who are set to take industrial action, including strike action, over the summer. We urge the employers to negotiate in good faith to reach a settlement which protects jobs, working conditions and decent pay.'
