Safe charging matters 🔌
Battery-powered devices like e-bikes, e-scooters and mobility scooters are becoming more popular—but unsafe charging can cause fires.
Stay safe:
• Avoid overcharging – follow manufacturer guidance
• Never charge overnight or unattended
• Only use approved chargers
• Keep away from flammable materials
• Don’t charge or store in communal areas
• Keep exits clear at all times
🚨 In a fire: get out, stay out, call 999

What is Youthbank?

YouthBank are a group of young volunteers aged 12–18 who form a group of young grant makers. The young grant makers fund projects and ideas developed by other young people across the city. This means that people get a real chance to fund youth activities and projects in their local community.

What will I be doing if I get involved?

You’ll take part in training with other interested young people and then explore your community’s needs. There are three Youthbank groups, so you’ll meet other young people from across your area.
You’ll regularly make decisions about whether or not to give money to other young people to run community projects based on whether you think they’re a good idea.

How will this benefit my community?

You’ll help your community by making sure that more young people have access to activities to get involved in, more chances to express themselves and learn skills they need. You will set the priorities, so you’ll have a say in what activities get the go ahead.

What will I get out of it?

You’ll have a fantastic opportunity to get involved in your local community, get lots of experience that can be used on CVs, in interviews and for college and university applications. You’ll also get some real qualifications and awards to help too.
It’s a great opportunity for you to build your skills and confidence.

How can I get involved?

Scan the QR code or visit our website to find out more, or if you’re not ready to sign up, drop us an e-mail and we will have a chat about the best way you can get involved.

Do you know someone who makes a positive impact in our local community?
We’re inviting nominations for individuals who make a real difference to people’s lives and help shape the community we live in. This might be someone who volunteers for a local club, is an exceptionally supportive neighbour, or carries out small acts of kindness that make a big difference.
Nominees do not need to be GWHA tenants or owners, but they must live within the local community.
Further details are available on our website: https://gwha.org.uk/housing/?id=237
To nominate someone, please complete our nomination form or email the relevant information to [email protected].

Glasgow West Housing Association Ltd is run by a Management Committee made up of volunteers who have dedicated thousands of hours of their time on behalf of GWHA residents to make the organisation a success in the community.

Senior Staff Surgery – “You Said, We Did” Update
We were pleased to host our first Senior Staff Surgery on Monday 11 May, welcoming 26 tenants.
As part of our commitment to listening and responding, we’ve published a summary leaflet highlighting the key themes raised and the actions taken under our “You Said, We Did” approach.
You can view the full update here:
https://gwha.org.uk/housing/?id=948
The leaflet has also been shared directly with all attendees using their preferred contact method.
We look forward to continuing these conversations at our next surgery, taking place at Kelvin West Parish Church on 25 August.

At our Annual Tenant’s Conference in January 2024, tenants told us they wanted more informal opportunities to speak directly with senior staff, closer to home and focused on the issues that matter most in their own communities.
