A wonderful afternoon today at Glasgow’s Social Enterprise Sector: A Celebration & Learning Event at Glasgow City Chambers 👏

Bringing together social enterprises, partners and support organisations from across the city for an afternoon full of conversation, collaboration and shared learning around Community Wealth Building and tackling poverty in Glasgow.

We kicked things off with a networking lunch and the chance to connect with some brilliant exhibitors and organisations supporting the sector, before hearing valuable insight from an excellent line-up of speakers including Susanne Millar, Chief Executive of Glasgow City Council; Councillor Malcolm Mitchell, Glasgow City Council’s lead for Community Wealth Building and Social Enterprise; Jennifer Robertson, Director of GSEN; and Jacqueline Lamb, CEO of The Indigo Group.

Their contributions highlighted the incredible impact social enterprises continue to make across Glasgow’s communities and the important role the sector plays in shaping a fairer, more inclusive economy.

The afternoon finished with a fun and interactive session - using collaborative gameplay to uncover challenges, explore solutions and spark even more meaningful networking and discussion across the room.

A huge thank you to all of today’s speakers, exhibitors and attendees for helping make the event such a success. 💛

The Business Glasgow team recently visited Stuart McKee, General Manager at Adaptocare Ltd - a family-run Glasgow business making a real difference through high-quality, accessible bathroom solutions that support elderly and less able people to live more independently every day. Adaptocare has worked closely with the Business Glasgow team and partners for over a decade - from early apprenticeship support through the Commonwealth Initiative and Glasgow Guarantee, to more recent digital guidance to enhance its website and social media presence.

The business has also taken meaningful steps towards sustainability, securing a Green Business Grant following carbon baseline reporting - supporting the installation of solar panels, alongside investment in electric vehicles and EV charging. With plans to engage in the Glasgow Business Growth Programme, Adaptocare continues to build on its growth journey, backed by what Stuart describes as “immense support” along the way.

A full case study on Adaptocare is coming soon đź‘€
