DEADLINE: midnight, Monday 9th November

This is a great opportunity for under-25s - the BBC would like 50 representatives living in Scotland to share their views in the run-up to our general election next May. They want to hear from folk from a whole range of backgrounds, and it doesn't matter whether or not you consider yourself to be seriously clued up on politics.

We've just heard about this ourselves this just now, so apologies for the short notice! Get applying and good luck!

If you are under 25 and able to vote in May’s elections, the BBC wants to hear from you

There are young people and children stranded in Calais at the moment, living in horrible conditions - many of them have fled their home countries in need of refuge or come with relatives who are seeking a better life. If you want to help financially, there is a crowdfunder being run by a small group of volunteers from Glasgow here: https://crowdfunding.justgiving.com/Solidarity

DEADLINE 17TH AUGUST: an opportunity for activists, creatives, thinkers, and general mischief-makers!

'The Centre for Contemporary Arts is currently seeking proposals from artists, curators, writers, filmmakers and political activists based in Scotland who wish to publicly explore ideas in a dedicated forum space within the galleries during The Shock of Victory (19 September – 1 November). [...] The forum hopes to become an active space enabling speculation as to what the 2014 Referendum means, not strictly as a political moment but also as a shift within the practice of artists, curators, writers, activists, organisations and individuals. It offers the opportunity not only to express and reflect on what happened, but also to contribute to new and as yet non-existing forms and ideas around the role that artistic work can play in proximity and response to, as well as in the imagination of, a political reality.'

Sending good luck wishes to everyone waiting on exam results today! However elated or disappointed you might feel, remember that there are many, many possible routes to success. What do you make of James McEnaney's argument? Does the SQA need to up its game?

Our friends at the the Living Rent Campaign are handing in their petition this Thursday, so please give it a look if you haven't already. And do share far and wide if you agree with its message!

Rents in Scotland are out of control. Scottish private tenants – those who rent from a landlord or letting agent - have the worst protections against eviction in Europe. Tenants are being forced into poverty, while house prices and a lack of social housing means there’s no alternative. Rent controls…

OPPORTUNITY FOR BLOG WRITERS AND ACTIVISTS:
the brilliant One in Five campaign have been in touch with us to encourage young people to get involved. Their campaign addresses the fact that although one in five working age adults in Scotland has a disability, their parliamentary representatives do not reflect this.

You can see the main website here: http://www.oneinfive.scot/

Twitter: https://twitter.com/oneinfivescot

They are also looking for people to write blogs for the campaign site on how disability has affected their ability to take part in political activity.

If you are on board with their ideas, it would be really great if you could sign the charter:
