Pollokshaws Burgh Hall

Pollokshaws Burgh Hall A hidden gem in the Southside of Glasgow with a huge history. We are a burgh hall, proud to be serving the community.

We can host everything from large-scale weddings to cosy art clubs and everything in between! The building was designed by Robert Rowand Anderson in 1895-98 with a date stone of 1897. It is said that he based his design on the Old College buildings of the University of Glasgow in High Street, with the tower and the use of crow-stepped gables the most obvious similarities. The large hall has a capacity of 200, the small hall holds 70 and there are a number of smaller side rooms.

The next Shaw Reel Cinema Club event is a 40th anniversary screening of Highlander.

This tale of immortal swordsmen battling through the ages for "the prize" has it all.

An iconic cast featuring a brooding Christopher Lambert as immortal Scottish clansman Connor MacLeod (terrible Scottish accent). A campy and charismatic Sean Connery as the absurdly moniker-ed and fellow immortal Spanish peacock Juan Sánchez-Villalobos Ramírez (not even bothering with a Spanish accent) and then of-course there's Clancy Brown as villain, The Kurgan, delivering one of the most memorable scenery chewing performances of the 80's

There's that soundtrack by Queen, stylish visuals and dynamic editing that really define the neon soaked 80's cinematic aesthetic. A high stakes plot featuring action, doomed romance, comedy and multiple memorable one liners.

Don't miss this one
