🏠✨ DAVID CARGILL CENTRE – RENOVATION UPDATE ✨🏠

Hi everyone,

Firstly, a huge thank you for your patience and understanding while the renovations to the David Cargill Centre kitchen are taking place. 💛

🔧 Unfortunately, we have experienced a further delay with some of the plumbing work, which means the hall will need to remain closed until Thursday 10 September 2026. I have only found this out in the last hour or so, so apologies that I was unable to contact anyone today.

If we are able to get the remaining work completed sooner, we absolutely will, and we will reopen as soon as it is safe and practical to do so. We will keep in touch each day with an update on progress, so everyone knows exactly where things stand.

🌟 THE WAIT WILL BE WORTH IT

The new kitchen is going to make a huge difference to what we can offer. Alongside the upcoming works funded through Changing Places, we are working hard to make the David Cargill Centre a vibrant, welcoming and accessible community hub. We are aiming to have an open day very soon, so watch this space!

🍲 MEAL DELIVERIES – MONDAY, TUESDAY & WEDNESDAY

We do not want our members who were expecting to attend next week to miss out on their meals. We have arranged catering for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and, where practical, our drivers will deliver a freshly prepared two-course meal to participants who were already booked to attend and who would like to receive one.

The meals had been arranged to be freshly cooked and packed by our caterers and delivered to the centre for distribution. 🚐 Our drivers have kindly agreed to deliver them to the addresses they would normally pick up from and drop off to.

📞 KEEPING IN TOUCH

I will personally be speaking with participants and/or their families, along with our staff over the weekend to discuss whether these arrangements. However, if anyone has any immediate concerns about the temporary closure or the arrangements for next week, you are very welcome to call or text me personally on:

🌟 What a morning! 🌟

Our RE:CREATE Movement & Memories session with Don Neo was full of energy, laughter and connection. From yoga stretches to sharing stories over a cuppa, there was something for everyone to enjoy.

Another cracking week and we're not just talking about the weather! ☀️😄

We've already enjoyed live music with Wullie McFarlane, Gaelic lessons, games and plenty of laughs. But the fun's not over yet! We've got Sporting Memories tomorrow and Don Neo's stretch-tastic yoga session still to come on Thursday.

Just a wee reminder that we'll be closed Friday and Monday for Glasgow Fair Weekend.
Don't miss us too much, we'll be back from Tuesday ready for more fun and friendship! 🎉😊

📣 Reminder: Battlefield Summer Stoop Sale is on tomorrow! 🌞

The neighbourhood will be buzzing on Saturday 11th July, from 10am–2pm, with stalls popping up across Battlefield’s streets, lanes and front gardens and we’re delighted to be taking part at Glasgow’s Golden Generation.

Today we had birthday celebrations with the lovely Cathy turning 80 or as we like to say, 21 plus VAT 😉

We've also had John Bennett belting out the tunes and another cracking 3 course meal for lunch 🍛🍦

We've had another fantastic week here at the David Cargill Centre so far! 😊

Our members had a lovely time yesterday taking part in armchair ballet, Swan Lake-style 🦢, and enjoying Gaelic lessons.

There's lots more still to come, with Sporting Memories taking place today and John Bennett joining us on Friday.
It's always great to see everyone enjoying such a variety of activities! ❤️
