What a day! Friday’s inaugural Sheena Glass Awards event was a huge success, and we absolutely loved celebrating with you all. We hope you had as much fun as we did.

We’re deeply grateful to the amazing local businesses and individuals who helped bring this event to life, we truly couldn’t have done it without you.

Another top Tuesday at the DCC!
Bob Jones was back filling the place with classics, and there was no shortage of dancing, singing and smiling. We even had Gaelic lessons today, our members loved giving something new a go.

The kitchen team spoiled us with a fabulous three course lunch: minestrone soup, mac ’n’ cheese, and a dreamy strawberry gateau… absolute noms.

🎉 Happy 45th Birthday to the Victoria Club! 🎉

Today, we are proud to celebrate the 45th Birthday of the Victoria Club, one of the longest-standing and much-valued affiliated clubs within the Glasgow’s Golden Generation Clubs Network.

Based at the Govanhill Neighbourhood Centre, the club was originally established as The Stroke Club, providing support, friendship and understanding to older adults who had experienced a stroke.

Over the past 45 years, the club has continued to evolve while maintaining its welcoming and supportive ethos. While many members still attend following a stroke, the club has become a vibrant social group where older adults come together to enjoy companionship, conversation and community.

Every Wednesday from 10am to 2pm, members meet to enjoy a light lunch, play games, share stories, enjoy a bit of banter and, most importantly, spend time with friends old and new. For many members, the Victoria Club is a highlight of the week and an important source of friendship and support.

As one of our affiliated clubs, the Victoria Club plays a vital role in helping older adults stay connected, active and engaged within their local community. Their success over the past 45 years is a testament to the dedication of their volunteers, organisers and members, both past and present.

From everyone at Glasgow’s Golden Generation, thank you for all that you do and for being such an important part of our Clubs Network.

Todays entertainment was Sporting Memories. We also have Aromatherapy with Pauline who helps pamper our members on Wednesdays, and the community on Thursdays. More information on Pauline's community services to come in the next few days!

Tomorrow Bob Jones will be entertaining our members with live music.

Our centre is open for all visitors to pop in for a coffee and blether, 10-2 Mon- Fri. Pop by for a quick chat, to see what we do or share ideas on how we can help the local community.

Today we had Gaelic Lessons with Lingo Flamingo and Arts and Crafts with Sarah followed by our 3 course lunch with Bingo and Games in the afternoon. As always, participation is optional and many of our members are here to hang with their friends, with a separate games room and lounge area for folk who want a change of scenery.

Tomorrow is our free soup day, and every day is free coffee day for any members of the community who would like to stop to see what we do, chat or suggest any other ways we can help the community.
