⛺ Tonight, Scott highlights the sleeping pods stretching along the street outside our night shelter and the delays our volunteers face when seeking help for the people using them.

📞 Scott reports waiting between 30 minutes and an hour just to speak to Glasgow City Council about accommodation. These are people asking for somewhere safe to sleep, while volunteers remain on the phone trying to secure support.

⌛ Behind every call is a person facing another night on the pavement. Their need for warmth, safety and dignity cannot be put on hold.

Scott urges Glasgow City Council to reduce these waiting times and work with Homeless Project Scotland to ensure that people receive timely help and appropriate accommodation.

🚨 Tonight, Sebastian reflects on an exceptionally difficult shift at our night shelter. The police were called twice, alongside an ambulance and Street Aid, but our volunteers pulled together and made it through.

🚑 We want to express our sincere gratitude to the incredible volunteers at Glasgow Street Aid The work they do is genuinely lifesaving, and their dedication makes an enormous difference to Glasgow and its people.

Sebastian also shares the heartbreaking story of a service user who has experienced loss, abuse and exploitation. The service user told Sebastian that when he tried to explain his circumstances to Glasgow City Health and Social Care Partnership he felt ignored and dismissed and was told to return to where he came from.

👂 At Homeless Project Scotland we listen. Every service user is a human being with a life, a history and a story that deserves to be heard. Nobody should be made to feel like they are simply another number.

⛺ Tonight, the sleeping pods are outside once again. It is devastating for our volunteers to place people on the pavement because no safe accommodation is available.

❓ Tonight, Sebastian directs several important questions to Councillor Allan Casey, Glasgow City Councils City Convener for Workforce and Homelessness and Addiction Services.

Sebastian questions why homelessness appears to be rising while sleeping pods continue to line the pavement outside our night shelter. Each pod represents a person who has been left without safe and appropriate accommodation. ⛺

He also challenges Glasgow City Health and Social Care Partnership to explain the basis of a recent claim that 80% of our guests are allegedly not homeless.

🌧️ Would people really queue outside for up to four hours, cold and soaking wet, simply for the chance to sleep in a pod on the pavement if they had somewhere safe to go?

Sebastian respectfully asks Councillor Allan Casey and Glasgow City Health and Social Care Partnership to look at the reality outside our doors and provide clear answers.

Homeless Project Scotland is devastated that people have been left without accommodation and must rely on pods on the pavement for somewhere to sleep. Scott calls on Glasgow City Council to fulfil its responsibilities and provide every person experiencing homelessness with safe and appropriate accommodation. 🏠

Every night, we see the reality of homelessness first hand. People are frightened, exhausted and desperately looking for somewhere safe to sleep.

These are not statistics. They are people. They matter.

So we are asking John Swinney directly: Do people experiencing homelessness matter to you and if they do, what are you going to do about it?

Scotland needs action, not just words.

8️⃣ Tonight, Sebastian reports that eight sleeping pods are outside our night shelter while temperatures continue to fall.

Some of the people relying on these pods have been returning for days, and sometimes weeks. They contact Glasgow City Council every day and every night using our phone lines, yet they are still not being accommodated. 📞

🥶 As the nights grow colder, leaving people outside becomes increasingly dangerous. Sleeping pods may offer limited protection, but they are not homes and cannot replace safe, appropriate accommodation.

⚖️ Sebastian believes it may be time to consider judicial review again partnered with Ross Harper to create the pressure needed for meaningful action. Glasgow City Council must step in, fulfil its responsibilities and ensure that nobody is repeatedly left outside with nowhere safe to sleep.

Eight pods represent eight people still waiting for somewhere safe to stay. What should Glasgow City Council do before another cold night begins?

🏙️ Tonight, Scott highlights Glasgow City Council’s duty to provide accommodation for people experiencing homelessness.

The individuals sleeping in pods are no different from anyone else who needs help. They are human beings who deserve safety, dignity and appropriate accommodation, not a sleeping pod on a public pavement.

⛺ A pod may provide temporary protection, but it is not a home and should never become an accepted solution to homelessness. Every person deserves somewhere safe to sleep.

Scott calls on Glasgow City Council to recognise the people behind the pods and ensure that nobody experiencing homelessness is left outside.
