As part of the ongoing celebrations, Now Entertainment, co-sponsored by Pakistan Consulate Glasgow, brought Scotland’s Pakistani community together for a vibrant Bhangra Night featuring renowned Pakistani artists Mazhar Rahi - M Zee and Um-e-Laila.

Consul General Summar Javed, joined the celebrations, highlighting the importance of keeping our shared culture and heritage alive and bringing communities together through such occasions.

A wonderful evening celebrating the spirit of Jashan-e-Azadi. 🇵🇰

Consul General Summar Javed met with Principal and CEO of City of Glasgow College, Dr Paul Little, and Vice Principal Corporate Development and Innovation, Carla Gethin, at the Riverside Campus

The meeting focused on further strengthening the MoU signed in 2001 between the City of Glasgow College and Maritime Training Institute in Karachi and exploring further opportunities for enhanced cooperation in maritime education, STEM, skills development and workforce development.

The Consul General also toured the Faculty of Nautical and STEM and experienced the College’s advanced 360 degree ship simulator.

With 15 to 20 Pakistani cadets studying at the College each year, there is significant potential to expand collaboration. Pakistan’s three major ports, Karachi, Port Qasim and Gwadar, together with a young population, with over 60 percent under the age of 30, offer strong opportunities for skills development in the maritime and technology sectors.
