🌧 Rain? What rain? 🌧

To celebrate , our Rangers hosted their annual Thank You Day to give back to our incredible Ranger Volunteers.

A soggy forecast wasn’t enough to dampen the spirits of this determined crew! They kicked off the morning with some fantastic work down at the Ardlochan boardwalk. Right on cue, the sun broke through just in time for a well-deserved, tasty lunch at the Swan Pond's boathouse. β˜€οΈπŸ₯ͺ

The afternoon was filled with exploring as everyone headed out for a country park geocaching challenge, however the heavens opened just in time for a brilliant (and very wet!) sandcastle competition to wrap up the day. 🏰🌧️

πŸ™‚ A call for volunteers! πŸ˜€

If you like working outdoors and have spare time, the Ranger team would love your help with the task of controlling ragwort growing in our Deer Park fields. 🌱

Ragwort is a native wild flower and in the right habitat this plant benefits our native wildlife. However in the Deer Park we control the growth of ragwort to reduce its spread over our grazing fields. It also contains toxins that in sufficient quantities if ingested can be toxic to livestock.🦌

How do we control it - by hand pulling or using a ragwort fork. βœ‹

The Ranger team will be at Deer Park at 10am ready for the day to welcome anyone who has registered to attend. If you can't stay all day just let us know, as any of your time is appreciated. Refreshments provided.

πŸ“©If you would like to come along, please follow the link in the comments section below to register for these sessions.

πŸ“… Dates: Wednesday 10th June, Wednesday 24th June and Wednesday 8th July
πŸ•‘ Time: 10am-3pm
πŸ“Œ Location: Deer Park. πŸ™Žβ€β™€οΈ Age: 16yrs +

❗Please wear/bring:
1. Suitable outdoor clothing and footwear (long trousers are advised).
2. Insect repellent
3. Sun cream
4. Gloves
5. Snacks/lunch (we will provide hot drinks/extra water and biscuits).

Our fruit trees are putting on an amazing show this year! 🍎

Whilst most of our apple trees are around 10 years old, the bigger ones you'll see are estimated to be over 100 years old - and still producing plenty of fruit!🍏🌸
