Hi Everyone,
Quick note tonight..

We had a bit of a breakdown mid morning on Saturday when there was a partial failure of the power supply and we lost our computers for the rest of the day.
Everything is fixed now and we will be open as usual on Monday.
Our apologies to any of our customers who were affected.

I’ll give you holiday info regarding the final May holiday tomorrow.
In the meantime here is Bo trying out the new cushions. (He’s going to be in trouble!)

Hi Everyone,

Royal Mail have announced a new product which launches on 12 May.
This will be International Medium Parcel and will be a tracked service.
The maximum dimensions will be length 61cm, width 46cm and depth 46cm.The weight limit will be 20 kg.
The previous limit for Royal Mail packets for abroad was 2kg. So this is an improvement on the Tracked Service and will apply to all countries which currently accept Tracked items.
Well I’ve had a busy weekend trying to get the garden in order . Bo the Post Office Dug however decided to opt out and shelter in the shed.

Hi Everyone,

Not been on for a wee while, some nights too tired( must be getting old!)

So Royal Mail sneaked their prices up to £1.80 for first class and 91 p for second and a letter for abroadshire is now £3.60.

On a brighter note if you are a customer of power companies EDF or Octopus you can now top up your smart meters at the Post Office or the Banking Hub.

If you are planning a holiday can I again remind you of the Post Office click and collect for your currency needs. On your smart phone iPad or computer go to Post Office Money and you can order your currency and get a much better rate than we can give you at the counter. The minimum order is only £100 and you can collect your order at Girvan Post Office usually within two hours. On an order for £400 or so you will get an extra 35 Euros,(approximately) so it’s well worth while.
If you are worried about carrying cash you can buy a Post Office Travel Money Card in the post office and use it just like your debit card .

Last week we celebrated 34 years in the Arcade and Tommy was 67 years in the Post Office . That’s probably why I feel so old!

Here is Bo the Post Office Dug with a look which suggests I’m telling him lies about the Bonio factory closing down.

Hi Everyone.
A wee amendment to yesterday’s post about the upcoming Easter holiday.

The Post Office and the Banking Hub will both be closed on Easter Monday 6th. April.

In line with the Banking system the Banking Hub will also be closed on Good Friday 3rd April.

The Post Offices will be open on Friday 3rd and on Saturday 4th. so you will not be short of somewhere to get cash.

Sorry about the error in Sundays post I can only blame Mrs. W. ( as is my usual way out!}

Hi Everyone

Well the first Bank holiday of the year is looming.
This upcoming weekend is Easter and the Post Office and the Banking Hub will both be closed on Monday 6th.
The holiday will be Monday only as the Scottish banks do not take Good Friday.
Remember to top up your gas and electricity before the weekend and lift some cash so you can take the family on a wee outing.
Further to the Bank of Scotland discontinuing the acceptance of cheques via the Post Office and the Banking Hub we are now told that the service by post does not require a stamp, however you must write FREEPOST at beginning of the address which I supplied to you on the last post regarding this matter.

If you are thinking of a wee break abroad this Easter remember to visit our site Post Office Money where you will get great rates on the Euro with a minimum purchase of just £100.
You will be able to collect your money from the Post Office two hours later using our ‘ click and collect service.’It’s very easy to use so have a go and get the best exchange rates.

A wee fotie to remind you that the folk festival is not so far away. This features Banjo George and another old guy.

Tommy and the girls.

Hi Everyone,
I forgot last week in my post about Bank of Scotland cheques to mention the address where you can post them to.
If you are a bank of Scotland customer and you want to pay a cheque to your account you have to visit a Bank of Scotland branch or send the cheque to,
LBG PROCESSING
PO BOX 13664
Harlow
CM209XF
I’m afraid they ask you to affix a stamp!
It’s getting late and some of us have to go to work tomorrow so in lieu of more prattling on
here is Bo the Post Office Dug patiently waiting for the Bonio cupboard to be opened.

Hi Everyone,

Just a wee note about paying cheques into the Banking Hub and the Post Office.

As I mentioned a while ago Loyds Group which includes the Bank of Scotland have withdrawn this service. They are the only bank to do so.

We can still accept cheques from you if you have an account with any of the other major banks e.g. TSB Royal Santander Virgin etc.

We have noticed a downturn in the number of cheques being deposited and we think that our customers have misunderstood the situation .

Please let your friends and family know particularly the elderly (like me).

So tonight’s picture of Bo the Post Office Dug demonstrates his complete disinterest in the subject.

Tommy and staff.

Hi Everyone,

Just a quick note tonight to keep you up to date.

That’s the first year in for the Banking Hub we celebrate that on the 14th of February .I think there is another occasion on that date , more about that later!
The Hub is doing very well so thank you all for your support and remember to tell your friends and especially your older family members that they can get advice about their banking needs from our Community Bankers . They can also give advice about scams and other fraudulent activities.
A reminder of the days when each Community Bankers attends.
Monday. Barclays,
Tuesday (vacant awaiting news of attendance.)
Wednesday Bank of Scotland.
Thursday. TSB,
Friday. Royal Bank of Scotland.
So it’s ‘later’ can I therefore remind you about the aforementioned 14th. February which as you all know is St . Valentine’s Day. In order to save you a lot of grief we have a nice stock of cards for the sending of which can prevent you from having a burnt dinner or having to look at a soor face for weeks on end! Don’t say you weren’t warned.
We have also received a new batch of the very popular Whistlefish cards so come on and have a wee look. These are for all occasions.
And finally if you are thinking about a wee sunshine break have a look at our online Euro rates which are very good, The minimum purchase is only £100 . Go to Post Office Money on your smart device and it is very easy to make an order on Click and Collect. You can pick up your order at Girvan Post Office usually 2 hours later . We recommend downloading the app . from the app.store then you can check rates a make orders whenever you want.
I leave you with a wee video of Bo the Post Office Dug having an after dinner roll on the carpet( something the more athletic of you may consider on the 14th)!

Tommy and staff.
