📢 Nominations for Barrhead Community Council have reopened

Would you like to have your voice heard and help shape the future of your local area?

Following a request from local residents, nominations have reopened for Barrhead Community Council and we are inviting people who would like to get involved in supporting the local community to put themselves forward.

If you're passionate about your community and want to help make a positive difference locally, we'd love to hear from you.

⏰ The nomination period closes at 5pm on Monday 10 August, so be sure to submit your nomination before then.

We’re delighted to confirm that Balgray railway station in Barrhead is set to open on Sunday 27 September. 🚆

Balgray has been built to serve the growing community around Barrhead and improve rail connections to and from Glasgow. It’s expected to make it easier for people to travel for work, education and leisure, while attracting more visitors to local destinations such as Dams to Darnley Country Park.

The station, which is on the Neilston line, is part of the Glasgow City Region City Deal, funded by the UK and Scottish Governments and East Renfrewshire Council. It’s being delivered by Network Rail in partnership with East Renfrewshire Council, Transport Scotland, ScotRail and Story Contracting.

The Barrhead recycling centre will be closed from Mon 13 July until Mon 20 July to allow essential improvement works to take place.

Booking slots for w/c Mon 20 July will be available from 9.30am on Tues 14 July. Greenhags Recycling Centre will remain open and bookings can be made here: https://orlo.uk/RswL9

The event showcased the wide range of employment and skills support available through East Ren's Local Employability Partnership. Residents had the opportunity to meet organisations offering advice and guidance on finding work, changing careers, retraining and developing new skills.
