Gateshead Council has a well established Fostering Service, with many years experience of placing children with families. We provide support to families who are thinking about fostering by offering advice and training. We also provide ongoing support to families who have foster with us. We have children waiting for a family through fostering and are keen to hear from people who would consider cari

ng for them. Our House Rules

Last year, 36 children were waiting for their forever families. This year, that number has risen to 50.

More than ever, local children need safe, loving, and permanent families.

This powerful image represents the children and sibling groups currently waiting to be adopted across our region. Behind every number is a child who deserves love, stability, and a place to call home.

Could you be the person to change a child’s future? Together, let’s make sure no child waits a day longer than they need to.

Could you start your fostering journey this Foster Care Fortnight?

We are calling for more people to come forward and find out more about fostering.

In Gateshead there is a need for more foster carers to care for children of all age ranges from babies to teenagers, for one child as well as sibling groups.

Could you be the family these children and young people need at a difficult time in their lives?

During The Fostering Network Foster Care Fortnight (11-24 May) we’ve been highlighting some of our amazing foster carers from across the north east.

If you feel that you too could be a foster carer and provide a safe loving home to a child, find out more and get in with our regional hub Foster with North East: www.fosterwithnortheast.org.uk

Here are some pics from the events we've had in Gateshead to celebrate.
