This Saturday 5th Sept we will be conducting a large multi-agency training exercise in the Anglezarke area, with colleagues from the ambulance and police services.

If you’re out and about and spot our vehicles, team members or “casualties”, please don’t be alarmed - it’s all part of the exercise, and no one is actually injured.

A big thank you to United Utilities for their support in granting us access to the land to enable this exercise to take place.

Today is International Dog Day and a chance to celebrate our four-legged friends who play a vital role in Mountain Rescue, alongside their dedicated handlers and the "dogs-bodies" who make training possible🐾

A special mention to Search Dog Juno, who made her first operational find in July during a search for a high risk missing person.

🚨CALLOUT🚨
12th August - White Coppice
At 17:55 we were called by North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust to assist a 14 year old who had fallen several metres down steep, rocky ground above Dean Black Brook.

Team members located the injured boy, who was with friends, and provided pain relief and splinting for a suspected back injury. Due to the nature of the injuries and the challenging terrain, we requested support from Coastguard helicopter Rescue 336 from Caernarfon.

We wish the young lad a speedy recovery and hope he’s back enjoying the outdoors soon.

A big thank you to Maritime and Coastguard Agency for their support.

Team members assisted Keswick Mountain Rescue Team with a medical incident while we were in the area supporting the Borrowdale Fell Race on Saturday. We wish the runner a speedy recovery.

Support Group recruitment open!

Bowland Pennine Mountain Rescue Team Support Group is looking for new volunteers - and you don’t need to be a mountaineer to get involved.

Our Support Group helps the team with essential behind‑the‑scenes activities, including:
• Fundraising and events
• Giving team talks
• Acting as a training casualty
• Building and equipment maintenance
• Supporting our Smelt Mill residential centre

⛑️Could you be an operational team member?⛑️

Applications for our next cohort of trainees are open and we are specifically looking for people who live or work close to our Ray Lane base in Garstang.

Being part of BPMRT is incredibly rewarding, but we want to be up front about the reality: it is a massive commitment, and it isn't always glamorous. We’re talking late nights, freezing rain, missed Sunday roasts, and a lot of hard work. It takes at least 18 months of intensive training to become a full team member, and you'll need total backing from your family too.

🧭 You must be able to navigate rough terrain in all weathers, day or night, and be self-sufficient out on the fells, but other than that we'll teach you all the rescue skills you need!
