We still have some of these going free. Is there no one in Borders College or the the High Schools who would like some? How about a box full for students to help themselves to? Seems a shame to put them in the bin.

We would like to make you aware that young carers and adult carers aged 16-24 are the focus of our benefit take up campaign launched today by the Minister for Social Security, Jeane Freeman.

The Scottish Government is working in partnership with Young Scot and carers’ organisations to raise awareness of Carer’s Allowance for young people. The campaign encourages young people with caring responsibilities to find out if they are entitled to Carer’s Allowance and if they are, to claim it.

Your support:

During Carers Week 2017, as we celebrate the wonderful contribution carers make, we would welcome your support to help promote the young carers benefit take up campaign.

A dedicated campaign page is available on the Young Scot website http://young.scot/young-carers for young carers. Please promote this link widely through your local channels. It contains a wide range of creative and interactive content which will be pushed out across Young Scot’s social media platforms including Snapchat, Instagram, Facebook and Twitter during the week to reach young carers.

Resources:

A benefit take up campaign toolkit is available. It contains a range of resources including key messages, facts, FAQs as well as the campaign timeline outlining day by day social media activities.

You can support the campaign activity with messaging on your social media channels. Suggested Twitter and Facebook posts are included in the toolkit. All posts and tweets should be directed to http://young.scot/young-carers.

Social security twitter

We are also pleased to announce that our new social security twitter account launched this morning to mark the start of the Young Carers Benefit Take Up campaign. We will be posting numerous tweets about the campaign over the course of the week and going forward we will tweet updates on social security.

We would be grateful if you would follow us and we would be very happy to reciprocate the gesture!

If you have any questions about the campaign please contact [email protected]

Sign our petition to urge party leaders to make sure they don't leave children and young people behind in this election: https://e-activist.com/page/8628/petition/1?ea.tracking.id=fb

In today's society, it is unacceptable that the gap in development of children from poorer backgrounds and their better-off peers is increasing. We're asking you to join us in breaking through the political noise this election, to get the issues affecting children and young people back on the agenda of every political party. https://e-activist.com/page/8628/petition/1?ea.tracking.id=fb

This is important!

This is important!

Less than half of 18-24 year olds voted in the last General Election. Young people deserve to have their voices heard. Tell us why you vote and help us show 18-24's how important it is

Have you heard about our Health Authorisation Card?

The Health Authorisation Card helps identify you as a carer to health care staff, allowing you to collect prescriptions and talk to doctors and other health professionals about the person you care for's condition.

You do not have to be receiving a service or support from the Young Carers Service to benefit from the Health Authorisation Card.

A Health Authorisation Card could benefit you:
- If you care for someone
- If you collect prescriptions on behalf of someone
- If you would benefit from knowing more about their condition

The person you care for will decide how much information they want to consent.

If you would like some more information regarding the above, do not hesitate to contact us. If you are interested in applying for one we can simply send you an application form in the post.

Here is a link so you get a better idea of what the Health Authorisation Card entails:
