A wee reminder....

Skye is a beautiful part of the world, whatever the weather. Around every corner there's another stunning view to see. When we're on holiday it's natural to relax, slow down and enjoy the break.

On Skye's narrow single track roads, it's even easier to forget the rest of the world. But others still have places to be, people to see, kids to collect and work to be done. So, please remember to check your mirrors regularly. Always and pull into a passing place to allow faster traffic behind you to safely pass. When parking to admire the view, please don't park in passing places or obstruct the road, however quiet it may seem.

Finally, always take all your litter home, and please take extra care around livestock as lambing is getting underway.

Something to be aware of, especially if you visit the beach with your dog in the coming weeks and months.

We are aware of the 7 dead seals at Helmsdale. They have been reported.

With SMASS confirming Avian Influenza related conditions found in Harbour Seals in Scotland, and the findings in foxes and otters, it’s a difficult time for wildlife rehabilitation centres across the UK.

Bird Flu has had a devastating effect on bird populations, especially seabirds, and now mammals are found to be affected.

When you contact us to ask for help with injured wildlife please be patient when we ask questions - the risks to humans are extremely low, but not zero. The potential risks to pets means you must keep yourself and your companion animals safe at all times.

After the glorious spectacle of yesterday’s crimson dawn sky, the day dulled into a low, almost oppressive muddle of greys. But still, at dusk, the magic is there on the beach, in the light up above, if you look for it.
