📖📚WORDFEST! 📚📖
Saturday September 12th.

Gainsborough Town is once more hosting the brilliant Wordfest. A day full of celebrations to word- theatre, storytelling, poetry and all things literacy! Events take place across various venues around town, suitable for all ages and all completely FREE.

So, what do we have for you at Gainsborough Old Hall?
🕙10am-1pm: Illuminated Letters Workshop. Join our craft club volunteers and create your very own illuminated letter on canvas, inspired by medieval manuscripts. All materials provided and you can take your creation home at the end of the session. Suitable for ages 15+. BOOKING ESSENTIAL.

🕜1:30pm: Lincolnshire: Home of Poets. Local writer Helen Hagon takes us through a journey of Lincolnshire's own poets. Hear about Thomas Miller, Thomas Cooper, Mabel Peacock and Jean Ingelow. Plus more, including someone called Tennyson? 🤔A celebration of local voices.

🕒3pm: Poetry with Paul Sutherland. Join Canadian-British poet Paul for an afternoon of poetry and reflection. He will share with us a collection of his finest work, exploring themes drawn from the world's major religious traditions, alongside the beauty and transformative power of nature. An engaging and thought provoking event that allows you to hear a poet's work in his own voice and the meaning behind the works.

All of these events take place in our Education Room and are FREE! Please note, these events do not give you access to the Hall but admission tickets can be purchased on our website or at the desk on the day.

🎨🧜‍♀️Only 2 weeks left!🧜‍♀️🎨

Our frieze workshop is coming along very nicely. So far our mermaid has enjoyed time with her underwater friends, met pirates AND dinosaurs! 🏴‍☠️🦖

What will she do next?

Finish her story in our FREE drop in workshop tomorrow between 10 and 2.

Can't make tomorrow? Our final week is next Wednesday 2nd September. This does not require admission to the Hall but can be a lovely bonus to a full day visit with us.

"PLEASE SIR, I WANT SOME MORE..."

Thank you for the amazing donations of books we've had so far but luckily (or, unluckily) they've flown back out just as quickly as they've come in!

If you are having a clear out, please consider us as your drop off point.

We are especially looking for:
📖Children's books (all age ranges)
📖Sci-fi & fantasy
📖History (fiction and non fiction)
📖Craft/hobby books
📖General popular fiction

We ask that books donated are in good condition and published not too long ago- this pertains to non fiction books being slightly outdated.

You can drop off any time between 10 and 4 at the main till point in the shop.

Thank you for your continued support with our secondhand bookshop, and remember it is open for all to browse with books starting at 50p!
