Report crime or make a complaint online at https://www.lincs.police.uk/ or call 101. We reserve the right to remove comments and block you if we feel you offend, intimidate, hurt, or deliberately provoke specific people or groups of people. We welcome open debate; we welcome free speech that allows you to articulate their opinions without fear of retaliation. But we do not welcome discourse from a

nyone who does not respect and live by those same principles. We live in a society where freedom of speech is a right, but if you abuse that right you can expect to be sanctioned. If anything you post tips the balance towards hate speech – this is defined as anything public that expresses hate or encourages violence towards a person or group based on something such as race, religion, age, s*x, nationality, ethnicity, disability, or s*xual orientation – or that post anything that threatens, incites, or encourages hatred or violence in any way, we may record this as a crime and investigate you in the same way we would as if this had happened on the street. Be aware of what you post, be mindful of how others may receive it, and, above all, be kind to one another. Thank you. Message from Inspector Head

Many of you will have seen recent national news reports about tragic incidents in which children and young people have lost their lives in open water. Unfortunately, one such incident occurred in Lincoln.

West Lindsey has a number of rivers, ponds, and lakes. While it may be tempting to swim in these locations, they pose significant risks. Open water can contain strong undercurrents, hidden hazards, and submerged debris, all of which can lead to serious injury or worse. I strongly urge residents to avoid swimming in these environments and instead use designated leisure facilities that are properly managed and supervised by lifeguards.

I’m pleased to share that police and partner agencies have secured Home Office funding for diversionary activities in Gainsborough. Further details will be released shortly.

Gainsborough is also benefiting from a Community Alcohol Partnership (CAP), which became operational in late 2025. If you would like to learn more, please visit:
New Community Alcohol Partnership launches in Gainsborough to tackle underage drinking

If the CAP proves successful, we will look to explore similar initiatives in other parts of West Lindsey.

Additionally, Gainsborough has received ‘Pride in Place’ funding, which will see £2 million invested annually for the next 10 years. This long-term funding supports a community-led regeneration plan. I encourage all residents to complete the Pride in Place survey to have their say: Pride in Place

You will also be pleased to hear that the additional PCSOs are scheduled to begin patrolling their allocated areas from 18 June, which I am sure will be welcomed by the community.

Incidents of note
• Officers executed a drug warrant at a property in Gordon Field, Market Rasen on 1 May. This action was made possible due to increased intelligence submissions following community meetings in March and April. I encourage residents to continue sharing information with the Neighbourhood Policing Team. Intelligence can also be submitted by replying directly to Lincs Alert messages.
• Police made enquiries following a social media post relating to a car wash in Gainsborough. No reports had been made to police, and the individual who posted was unable to provide further details. It is understood that a follow-up post has since clarified the situation.
• Police investigated reports circulating on social media regarding a male allegedly exposing himself to children in McDonald’s in Gainsborough. McDonald’s cooperated fully, and after a comprehensive review of CCTV, we are satisfied that no offences took place.

Officer recruitment is now open. If you would like to learn more about joining Lincolnshire Police, please visit our website:

Police have been conducting speed enforcement on Stow Park Road in Marton, Gainsborough on Tuesday 5 May.

We have spoken with residents who have raised their concerns over speeding in the area. The local community have reported collisions in recent years on the road and say that road users need to slow down to prevent someone getting seriously injured.

The proactive checks showed encouraging results, with no vehicles reported for travelling at excess speeds.

Advice to all road users is to be mindful of the speed limit on the road you are travelling on and stick within the limit. Speeding is one of the the main causes of people being killed or seriously injured on our roads.

A man has been returned to prison after he was recalled for breaching his licence conditions.

The trains at Gainsborough had to be stopped yesterday, Wednesday 15 April, after John Lowther fled onto the tracks trying to escape from police.

The 40-year-old man ran from Morton Gardens, jumped a 7-foot fence before ending up on the train tracks near the Belt Road bridge on the outskirts of the town.

Lowther climbed up a structure at the side of the tracks and refused to climb down.

Several police resources were deployed including a drone which gave commanders a bird’s eye view of events. Over an hour later, the incident was resolved with Lowther being arrested for being unlawfully at large and trespassing on the train line.

Lowther has been returned to prison where he will continue to serve his sentence for theft offences.
