This week, S1–2 pupils from Kilchuimen Academy took part in a Sustainability Week filled with hands-on learning and outdoor experiences.
The week began with a session led by Kez from the The Lovat where pupils explored foraging plants and flowers around the school grounds before using their ingredients to make summer mocktails.
Later in the week, pupils visited Dundreggan Rewilding Centre. They worked in the tree nursery collecting and planting seeds, explored the centre, and learned more about rewilding, including native species, habitats, and deer management.
In the afternoon, pupils learned about fire safety and the dangers of wildfires before making their own fires and cooking bannock outdoors. Followed by a Gaelic session where pupils learned more about local heritage and culture.
A huge thank you to everyone involved in providing such a valuable and memorable experience for our young people.
