The team covers over five thousand square kilometres, from Creag Mheagaidh in the East, all the way out to Rum and the Small Isles in the West. The team is wishing a massive good luck to one of our very own, Jess, who is setting off this evening in the gruelling Montane Summer Spine Challenger MRT North race!

For those who don’t know, this is a 160 mile non-stop race along the northern section of the Pennine Way.

While Jess is used to covering serious distance and rough terrain during callouts in the Highlands, doing it over 160 miles with minimal sleep is a whole different beast! We have no doubt her training and Lochaber grit will carry her through every tough mile.

Despite the attention being on Iain and Astie's massive undertaking this week. The rest of the team have continued to respond to call-outs, and have provided support for the Lochaber Round.

The first call out came in on Wednesday for a casualty with a lower leg injury on the lower Ben path. A team located the casualty with the assistance of some members of the public. The casualty received some pain relief before being stretchered down to the Scottish Ambulance Service.

Later that evening the team was called to a casualty with a pre-existing medical condition on the Ben path. A small team was deployed, whilst more were on standby. The small team were able to assist the walker off the hill, where they were able to make their own way home.

Finally in the early hours of this morning the team were called out to a team of Three Peaks walkers, where one of the party was becoming hypothermic. The team made their way up to the party, and provided some additional layers and food followed by walking the casualty back down to their vehicle.

Thanks to the assistance of the Scottish Ambulance Service and the members of the public who offered their help!

The boys have made it to the summit!

Certainly not for the first time, but this one's surely been the hardest!

The weather has not been kind, the ground has been sodden but the spirits have somehow remained high!

They're now on their final descent of this absolutely epic challenge, and we're 86% of they way to £10,000! Can we make it 100% by the time they make it down?

Morning update!

With some support from team members the Grey Corries are done! They're now making their way on to Aonach Beag.

Iain and Astie have been on the go for 74 hours with minimal sleep. They've done 307km so far and now have the small task of the biggest mountain's on our patch!

They're now over £8000 and we can't thank you all enough!

But there's still time to donate! Can we hit our target of £10,000?

The final traverse! If you can call it that!? Iain and Astie have finished their last cycle to Loch Treig and are resting up ahead of a grueling Lochaber traverse, that is a mega achievement just on its own!

Despite every all the exhaustion, and all the rain, they remain in good spirits, that's largely thanks to all of you! As of posting this we are 77% of the way to our target of £10,000. Can we make it 100% by the time they finish tomorrow? Every £1 is so appreciated 🙏

Bunarkaig to Creag Meagaidh! After a good but short rest Iain and Astie set off into the night to tackle the next section. Starting with a cycle into Glen Roy, then transitioning, and hiking up the back of Creag Meagaidh.

They're now getting some food and rest at the Creag Meagaidh car park before tackling the final third of the challenge!

Day 2 on The Lochaber Round 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼

Iain and Astie battled through the night in some really tough conditions to get over Ladhar Bheinn and down to Sourlies Bothy where some much needed friendly faces and respite was waiting.

The morning brought a much brighter day which the pair were glad of for the long boggy hike out from Sourlies.

Lots of members of our team have been out today in support of the guys and were waiting with their bikes ready as they emerged at Strathan.

Grateful for the change to two wheels to take them along the shores of Loch Arkaig and over 36 hours into this mega adventure they are currently taking their first proper rest.

Next they’ll head East towards Glen Roy and Creag Meagaidh.

Iain and Astie have had a brutal night on Knoydart. But after a refuel and some food, they're about to head out on the bikes!

Day 1 of The Lochaber Round 🚵‍♂️🚤⛰️🏃

Iain and Astie have got off to a strong start putting in a big day on the bikes assisted by a morning lift across Loch Linnhe to reach Ardgour before heading through Morven and out past Arisaig.

Time on two wheels was broken up with an ascent of Rois-Bheinn a remote hill standing at 882m high.

The guys are now taking a short rest and refuel in Mallaig before heading into some of the most remote and challenging terrain on our patch - Knoydart.
