Today marked another milestone in the 631 AGS journey, with the Commanding Officer Sqd Ldr Hale receiving his 3rd bar to add to his Cadet Forces long Service medal. Sqd Ldr Hale joined the organisation as a cadet in 1979, joining 631 in 1983 as a staff cadet, then became a Civilian Gliding Instructor in 1984. Continuing his career he was awarded a commission in 1995.
Sqd Ldr Hale has now completed a total of 47 Years in the organisation, 31 of these as a commissioned officer.

Today 631 AGS Welcomed Merchant Taylorโ€™s CCF attending for the bronze course Cpl Ainsworth demonstrated an exceptional high standard in aircraft handling, power management, SLA, Recovery from unusual attitudes and flying a circuit. Congratulations goes to the 3 cadets from Merseyside Wing who successfully completed the revised Bronze Wings GBT Course, demonstrating an exceptional high level of skill to earn their wings. Cadets stated how much they enjoyed the course and are seen here receiving their awards from Sqd Ldr Owen, who is getting (successfully) into character for his role as Scrooge in the local production of a Christmas Carol .
This week marked the final course for 631 AGS in 2025, successfully delivering over 20 courses and seeing in excess of 100 cadets awarded Bronze Wings during this period, all the staff at 631 would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a merry festive period and a happy new year and we look forward to welcoming cadets in 2026. This week marked a milestone in the 631 AGS Journey, after successfully delivering over 20 courses and seeing in excess of 100 cadets awarded Bronze Wings, a change in the bronze syllabus will see future generations of cadets undertake the new syllabus.
