Communities Team Supporting Forfar & Kirriemuir We are about engaging with the varying communities in and around the Forfar/Kirriemuir and Glens area

We are about engaging with the varying communities in and around the Forfar/Kirriemuir area and the groups who serve their communities. We want to make it easy for us to talk to you and for you to talk to us. We want to build relationships with local people, groups and businesses. We want to work with you to make Angus a place where a first class quality of life can be enjoyed by all.

Climate Ready Tayside has announced its next Community Resilience Gathering for community groups from across Tayside.

Being held separately in-person and online, it’s an opportunity for groups to come together and explore practical ways to increase community resilience in response to climate change and extreme weather.
The event will focus on the theme of communication and how to share clear, timely communications with your community before and during extreme weather.

Climate Ready Tayside - https://orlo.uk/U8NmM - is looking to develop communication training for community groups, and a session will be held at the event to better understand requirements for this.

The in-person event takes place on Tuesday 28 April from 5.15pm to 7.30pm at ScrapAntics Community Centre, Wellgate Centre, Dundee. Hot food will be provided. Details here - https://orlo.uk/HMpMJ

The online event takes place on Wednesday 6 May from 6pm to 7.30pm via Eventbrite. Details here - https://orlo.uk/qN2tL

Whether you are a formal community resilience group, an individual wanting to set up a community resilience group, or another group thinking about how to protect the place you live from climate impacts such as flooding or heatwaves - all are welcome.

You don’t need any special experience, just a willingness to help, be part of a team, and make a real difference when it matters most.

If you’re interested in getting involved or would like to find out more, please get in touch or drop a comment below.

Together, we can build a stronger, more resilient community 🌧️⚡

We're excited to announce our new Community Development Toolkit is live! https://orlo.uk/oFAdj

It's been developed to support and empower individuals and organisations leading community-led projects.

It provides practical tools, guidance, and inspiration for individuals and groups working to create positive local change and is firmly rooted in the belief that the best solutions come from within communities themselves.

Whether you're just starting out with an idea or already deep into a project, this resource is here to help you plan, collaborate, and take action effectively.

We hope this toolkit becomes a trusted companion on your journey—supporting you to lead with confidence, connect with others, and create meaningful, lasting impact.

It's available now on our website https://orlo.uk/Lun5h

We know in-person advice is valuable to groups too, and we’d like to assure you that Angus Council’s Vibrant Communities, Community Development Team can provide support at any stage of your community organisation’s lifecycle. Access support for your community at https://orlo.uk/GlWZe

We want to reach as many community groups and individuals as possible with this message about our new toolkit, so please share within your own networks and on your social media pages. Thank you.
