This Folkestone resident didn’t pay their fines but did pay the cost of ignoring them πŸ›»

After clocking up 20 unpaid penalty notices for overstaying permitted parking time or parking on yellow lines , the owner’s vehicle was clamped and removed.

It is a last resort action – one that we don’t have to take very often due to working with drivers to set up payment arrangements where necessary. This car will be returned if the fines are paid, otherwise it will be sold.

Civil enforcement officers are out on patrol regularly in the district.

The hot, sunny weather over the end of May Bank Holiday brought many to our coastline in vehicles. They are very welcome, but only when they park sensibly.

Most do but like all things, others spoil it by blocking roads and access resulting in 500 penalty notices being issued across the district that weekend.

Are you a young carer? πŸ‘

Carers (including those under 18) are people who provide unpaid care to someone over the age of 18.

The role can involve supporting someone to wash, dress and eat, as well as arranging appointments, managing medication, helping with housework and finances – or even just keeping someone company when they feel lonely or anxious.

If this is you, we have some guidance available this on our website which should help ➑ https://www.folkestone-hythe.gov.uk/health-wellbeing/support-for-vulnerable-people/2

A joint operation has taken place aimed at combatting suspected illegal to***co and v**e sales and alleged criminal activity 🚬

Seven premises, including retail outlets and businesses, were visited in Folkestone, Hythe, New Romney and Lydd following complaints about illegal and underage sales, the handling of suspected stolen goods and potential modern slavery.

Our licensing and community safety officers joined the operation led by Kent Police – along with George, a specialist detection dog, who assisted the day of action πŸ•β€πŸ¦Ί

Staff from Kent County Council’s Trading Standards and members of the Home Office South East Immigration Enforcement team were also involved.
