Welcome to the page of 99 (Folkestone) Squadron, Air Training Corps. The Kent coast's premier representatives of the Royal Air Force Air Cadets.

99 Squadron is part of a UK-wide cadet force with more than 41,000 members aged between 12 and 20 years. We are sponsored by the Royal Air Force and can give you hands-on experience of activities and courses that will challenge and develop your

skills to help you succeed in whatever you want to do.

☆ We pride ourselves in our variety of activities, our sporting achievements, our standards of drill & discipline and our standing in the community.

☆ We are one of 34 Squadrons based in Kent with our Wing headquarters in Maidstone. Kent Wing is split into 4 areas, 99 (Folkestone) Squadron is in area 4 and the Wing is a part of London And the South East Region of the Air Training Corps.

☆ 99 (Folkestone) Squadron Air Training Corps

Parade Nights: Mondays & Thursdays 1900-2130hrs - Minimum joining age is 12 years & must be in year 8 at school.

☆ There is no obligation to join the regular RAF, the reserves or any of the services in Her Majesty's Armed Forces once you have joined the Air Training Corps. But what you will get out of it are meeting new friends and enjoying many new experiences & opportunities along with academic & practical nationally and internationally recognised qualifications and awards that you cannot get anywhere else! - Contact us or come in for a chat to find out more!

On Monday, the cadets took part in an initiative exercise, developing their teamwork, confidence and leadership skills.

The evening ended on a high note with the presentation of a Blue Leadership Badge for completing the SMEAC lessons and passing 2 leadership tasks. Well done!

What have we been up to at 99 Air Cadets over the last few weeks?

Our amazing Cadets did a fantastic job showcasing the brilliant opportunities available to prospective Cadets. They demonstrated their skills, confidence and enthusiasm, giving visitors a great insight into what life at 99 Air Cadets is all about.

With Remembrance parades fast approaching, our Cadets have been working hard practising their drill and making sure their uniform is up to standard. Their dedication and attention to detail have been fantastic to see!

This weekend, four cadets had the fantastic opportunity to go gliding with 615 Volunteer Gliding Squadron at RAF Kenley.

It was an exciting day, giving the cadets the chance to experience gliding first-hand, learn more about aviation, and take to the skies in a glider.

A huge thank you to 615 VGS for giving our cadets the opportunity for fly.

Last week, three of our cadets and two of our volunteers were fortunate to be selected to attend camp at RAF Odiham.

They enjoyed an action-packed programme, taking part in a fantastic range of activities, including:

A visit to the armoury
STEM activities
Exploring fire engines
Drill
Survival skills
Flight in a Chinoock
Awards and presentations

The camp provided a brilliant opportunity for our cadets to develop new skills, challenge themselves, learn more about the RAF and, most importantly, have fun, meet new friends and make some great memories!

Yesterday we took advantage of the heat and made a splash with some fantastic water-themed leadership tasks!

The young people got stuck in, working together, communicating, problem-solving and, most importantly, having plenty of fun along the way!

From tackling challenges to supporting their teammates, it was great to see leadership skills developing naturally while everyone enjoyed cooling off in the sunshine.

Who says learning about leadership has to happen in a classroom? Sometimes the best lessons come with a little water, teamwork and a lot of laughter!

Yesterday, our cadets got stuck in, starting work on bug houses to be places outside the squadron.

The cadets had the chance to learn how to use tools safely, work together as a team, and bring their own ideas to life.

We’re looking forward to seeing the finished bug houses and getting them installed around the squadron.
