Young people across Wrexham and Flintshire are being encouraged to apply to join the Volunteer Police Cadets as recruitment officially opens for new members.

The Volunteer Police Cadet programme offers young people aged between 13 and 18 the opportunity to learn about policing, develop valuable life skills, support their local communities, and take part in a wide range of activities and events alongside North Wales Police.

Cadets meet every Tuesday evening at the Divisional Police Headquarters in Llay between 6:30pm and 8pm, where they take part in engaging sessions covering topics such as community safety, teamwork, leadership, first aid, crime prevention and an introduction to various areas of policing.

Deeside Pub watch has met this month and was attended by the following licensed premises -

Wetherspoons
Broad Oak
Red Hall
The Clwyd
Castle Hendys
Labour Club

We work closely with the licensed premises to promote safe environments for customers and staff. During the meeting it was agreed to ban an individual for a period of 10 years, they will be notified and their details shared amongst the pubs locally.

All of the above have signed up to an online portal called Schemelink. Schemelink gives Pubwatch, councils and police partners a secure place to share alerts, manage incidents, share photos/data, and keep local safety work moving. It operates with the aim of reducing crime & anti-social behaviour in our area.

We are appealing for information following the theft of two vehicles in the Shotton area overnight on Sunday, 7 June.

A Nissan Leaf was reported to have been taken from New Park Road, Queensferry, before a Fiat 500 Abarth was reported stolen from Plymouth Street, Shotton.

A third vehicle, a Fiat 500 Abarth, was also damaged on Caernarvon Close overnight.

A pa******le who s*xually abused two children has been sentenced to life in prison.

Robert Mattravers, 47, of Russell Road, Runcorn appeared at Mold Crown Court on Tuesday, 2 June where he was sentenced for multiple s*x offences.

They included four counts of r**e of a child, two counts of s*xual assault of a child, five counts of s*xual activity with a child, engaging in s*xual activity in the presence of a child and causing a child to watch s*xual activity.

He was also charged with making indecent images of children, including two Category A, two category B, four Category C and taking five indecent images of a child of Category C.

He admitted all offences that took place in Connah’s Quay.

Last week, some of our Neighbourhood Policing Team were tasked with supporting our colleagues at the Eisteddfod - and what a fantastic week it was. 🎪
