As Volunteers' Week winds down we'd like to say a massive thank you to all those volunteering with Hart and across the district! 👏

Helping us to manage our 19 countryside sites are almost 200 Hart registered volunteers, and the volunteer group at Fleet Pond Society. 💚

Volunteering with us is a great way to get outside and socialise whilst learning new skills and protecting a variety of habitats. 🍃

A big thank-you to 3rd Bramshill Yateley Green - Scout Group, Yateley Explorers
and Hook Explorers for welcoming our Community Safety team this week, together with colleagues from Hart South Police and Hart North Police

The Scouts and Explorers were treated to engaging sessions on key safety topics affecting young people, including the risks and consequences of drug use, knife crime awareness and making safe choices and basic First Aid in situations involving drug-related incidents

It was fantastic to see such great participation, thoughtful questions and a real commitment from the young people to keeping themselves and others safe.

If you’d like our Community Safety team to come and talk to your group - young or old – email [email protected]

Leaving bags beside or on top of recycling Bring Sites or clothing banks might feel helpful, but it's actually fly-tipping. 🚫

Items left outside of donation banks are frequently damaged by weather or other factors, rendering them unsuitable for reuse. In such circumstances, the responsibility for disposal falls to the charity or landowner, resulting in additional cost and disruption.

If waste is taken by a car or van and left, the person responsible for the vehicle is treated as if they knowingly caused the waste to be dumped.

If you are unable to deposit items within a charity bank, you must remove the items and either return at a later time or dispose of them via an authorised waste facility.

You can find recycling points here bit.ly/4cvDwAp

All instances of fly-tipping cost the tax payer thousands each year. 💷 💰 Recycle smart!

Due to an emergency tree work at Fleet Pond, the below pathway between Wellington Avenue and Fleet Railway Station will be closed tomorrow, between 9am and 1pm. ⛔

For your own safety do not use the pathway during these times. To reach the station it is quickest to turn back around rather than going around the entire pond. ✅

Vice Chair of Hart, Gill Butler attended Edenbrook Bike Jam last Saturday for a very hot day in the sun. Befitting the event Councillor Butler arrived on her bike!

It was lovely to see such a large turnout of all ages using the amazing facilities at Edenbrook. Keep an eye on this page for our drone footage we captured at the event, coming soon!

We’re highlighting some of the key achievements contained in the Community Annual Report over the next couple of weeks, focusing on different areas. Today, we’re looking at housing and the work we have done to support our community:

• We delivered 104 new affordable homes, including 50 for rent and 54 for shared ownership
• We helped 1,620 applicants on the housing register navigate their housing options
• We provided expert homelessness advice to 854 households
• We distributed over £40,000 through the Household Support Fund to help our most vulnerable residents stay in their homes.
• We awarded 60 Disabled Facilities Grants and 11 Prevention Grants, investing almost £800,000 to adapt homes and prevent housing crises.

💁 If you need support or have a housing issue, contact our team on 01252 774420 or email [email protected]

To help families get the space they need, we have launched a new downsizing support scheme - Smart Move. ✅

Through Smart Move we can offer those living in an affordable home, incentives and support to downsize by at least one bedroom.

If you want to move closer to family or facilities, reduce running costs or the hassle of maintaining a larger property, or are struggling to get around your home, Smart Move can help you find a home that suits your needs.
