🌺 THE 2026 POPPY APPEAL BEGINS

Today marks the national launch of the 2026 Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal.

Over the coming weeks, volunteers across the country will be giving their time to collect donations and distribute poppies — helping the Royal British Legion support serving personnel, veterans, their families and dependants.

Here in Filey, we are incredibly grateful to every volunteer who gives up their time and every member of our community who supports the Appeal.

Whether you wear a poppy, volunteer, donate or simply take a moment to remember, thank you.

⚓ TRAFALGAR DAY — 21 OCTOBER

Today we remember the Battle of Trafalgar, fought on 21 October 1805.

The Royal Navy's victory prevented the threat of a French invasion and established a period of British naval supremacy. But today is also a day of remembrance for those who lost their lives on both sides.

We remember Admiral Lord Nelson and the sailors of the Royal Navy who gave their lives at Trafalgar, alongside all those who have served at sea throughout our nation's history.

We will remember them.

⚓🇬🇧 Lest We Forget.
