We all have a part to play in reducing plastic pollution. Recycling is a key part of this; ensuring that plastic is kept in the economy and out of the environment. But itβs important to remember that, where possible, we should reduce or re-use before recycling.
As the mantra goes β reduce, re-use, recycle!
Moving from single-use plastic by reducing and re-using means that less plastic is needed on the market; this helps to eliminate plastic waste and can significantly reduce greenhouse gases emissions. Reusing your plastic containers reduces the demand for virgin plastic production, which often involves extracting finite resources such as oil. By choosing recycled options, you help conserve these natural resources and reduce plastic waste that would otherwise end up in landfills or oceans.
In fact, The Ellen Macarthur Foundation report that if a plastic bottle is re-used 20 times, it means 95% less packaging waste.
This is why the Ferryside Village Forum are keen to provide some basic household and personal liquids that you can collect in your own bottle.
We currently stock: Washing-up Liquid, Laundry Liquid, Laundry Conditioner, Toilet Cleaner, Multi-surface Cleaner, Hand Soap, Shampoo, Hair Conditioner and Body Wash.
All of these products are also environmentally friendly so refilling your bottle helps the environment in two ways.
