Ferndown Town Council is delighted to unveil this year's community poppy display outside of our offices in Barrington Arts Centre, with the addition of our silent soldier.

Once again, we would extend our sincere thanks to all of our local residents who knitted or crocheted poppies and contributed their time, skills and creativity to this meaningful project.

Please join us at our Poppy Appeal Launch on Saturday 24 October for a parade and service from 10:00 in the Barrington Arts Centre. All are welcome.

We will remember them 🌺

King George’s Field Charity, Ferndown (KGV) and Winton Cricket Club (WCC) have entered into a five-year agreement that will see the Club bring high-level cricket to KGV, strengthening the sporting offer in Ferndown and providing new opportunities for the local community.

Councillor Simon Cable, Deputy Mayor of Ferndown Town Council and Chair of the KGV Management Committee, said: "We are delighted to strengthen our relationship with Winton Cricket Club and to formalise a partnership that will bring high-level cricket to Ferndown for the next five years. This agreement is an exciting opportunity for both organisations to work together to develop cricket and make the most of the facilities at KGV. Winton Cricket Club shares our vision of providing high-quality sport alongside community events and creating a welcoming environment that brings families and the wider community together. I am looking forward to seeing the Club continue to develop and thrive at KGV over the coming seasons."

Winton Cricket Club are equally enthusiastic about the long-term agreement, which will allow the Club to go from strength to strength, with Club Chairman Brian Dobson stating “We are absolutely delighted to have the opportunity to partner with the Ferndown King George V Charity. Together, our long-term vision is to provide an excellent cricketing facility that will benefit the Ferndown community and the Winton Cricket Club family. The KGV Sports Fields and its wonderful clubhouse provide a fantastic setting for a wide range of sporting and social activities within the local community. We look forward to working closely with the other KGV sports clubs to build a strong, vibrant and welcoming sporting community together.”

Tom Raymond-Hill, Head of Core Game Development for the ECB, said: “We welcome grassroots cricket clubs working with local partners to help protect and grow cricket so that even more people can play and enjoy the sport. It’s great to hear that this agreement will mean more opportunities for young people and for disability cricket in and around Ferndown.”

Ferndown Matters is back!

We're delighted to announce the revival of Ferndown Town Council's 'Ferndown Matters' newsletter! Keeping residents informed about local news, council updates and upcoming events.

The newsletter will be delivered to homes across Ferndown and will also be available to collect from The Barrington Centre.

This is a year-long trial, and we'd love to hear your feedback! Please let us know what you think of each issue and what you'd like to see included in future editions.

Our Mayor, Councillor Lawrence Wilson, was delighted to join the students at Sixth Form at Ferndown Upper for their annual Cardboard Campout, as a guest judge.

The evening raised a whopping £7,500 for The John Thornton Young Achievers Foundation, which is also one of the Mayor's chosen charities this year.

Congratulations once again to the students and staff!

We are beyond thrilled to announce that our Cardboard Campout raised £7,500 for The John Thornton Young Achievers Foundation! This is an incredible achievement and brings our total raised for the charity over the past two years to £17,500!! 🥳

Our sponsors and supporters are tagged in the comments. We would also like to extend our gratitude to everyone who made a contribution to the charity; it spurred our students on!

And of course, an enormous thank you to the students, staff, and the Thornton family for braving the cold to make the event such an incredible success! 😍

Ferndown NPT Weekly Update

Over the past few weeks we have:

✅ Conducted high-visibility patrols in identified hotspot areas across Ferndown, providing reassurance to residents and targeting issues raised by the community.

✅ Continued patrols at Lidl, McDonald's, Sainsbury's and KGV Fields, addressing concerns around anti-social behaviour and maintaining a visible policing presence.

✅ Engaged with residents, local businesses and community groups, listening to concerns and providing crime prevention advice.

✅ Stage 3 warning letters were delivered to individuals involved in ongoing anti-social behaviour, reinforcing expectations and highlighting the consequences of continued offending.

✅ The next Mobile Police Station (MPS) will be on 3 November at 11:00am. Come along to meet your local neighbourhood policing team, discuss any concerns, receive crime prevention advice, and find out more about what we're doing in your area.

🎄✨Mayor’s Christmas Card Competition 2026! ✨🎄

The Mayor of Ferndown, Councillor Lawrence Wilson, is inviting local young people to enter Ferndown's annual Christmas Card Competition!

The winning design will be used as his official Christmas Card for this year and shared with the local community and dignitaries across the county!

📅Deadline: 23rd November
📍Open to: All local children aged 18 and below.
The Design:
Can be a drawing, painting or photo.
Must be on A5 paper; either landscape or portrait
Be original and creative!

How to enter:
Label the design with your full name, age and a mean of contact.
Send your design to [email protected] or drop it into the Ferndown Town Council office at the Barrington Centre, Pennys Walk, Ferndown, BH22 9TH.
