Welcome to the Trimley St Mary Parish Council news March 2026
Parish Council Precept (Council Tax Charge)
Like all councils the Parish needs funds to operate, to secure the budget the Council prepares one and submits its precept to East Suffolk Council for inclusion on the Council Tax charge for Trimley St Mary. (£58,000.00)
There are roughly 1568 dwellings in Trimley St Mary, not all dwellings contribute the full amount some may not contribute at all.
The average charge on a dwelling in Band D is £45.04 per year or £0.86 per week. The Band D rate remains one of the lowest in the East Suffolk Region.
The Council uses it budget to pay for the officers of the Council (2) a Clerk & Finance Officer neither of which are full time. Our Parish Councillors are voluntary.
The rest of the precept is spent on enhancing the village schemes in 2025 included substantial contributions to upgrade children’s play equipment on two sites, Faulkeners Way & Stennett’s Field. New Benches & Picnic tables grant to the School for Books.
We have further projects that we will be carrying out in 2026 & beyond, we the Council believe we are always diligent in the way we provide for the village & are careful when we set each year’s budget, we do not waste your money it is aways used sensibly so we leave Trimley St Mary in the best pace we can for the future of us all.
During 24/25 6 projects came to fruition, enabling the Council through diligence, experience and ability to raise grants in addition to the Community Infrastructure Levy from new builds revenue and precept funds to deliver £180,000 worth of infrastructure to the Parish 3 times the annual precept revenue.
Projects:
FAULKENERS WAY Play Area (ESC JOINT VENTURE)
ST MARYS GREEN SEATING AND Picnic Tables
WELCOME HALL Solar Panels
WECOME HALL Storage and Archive Facility
STENNETS MEMORIAL PLAYINGFIELD Additional New Multi Play Area
TRIMLEY ST MARY SCHOOL Reading Programme/book/dictionaries/atlases/globes/gardening equipment
Many ongoing smaller projects including Bulb Planting, School Gardening and infrastructure to support education and Playing field Shade for picnic Tables
Yellow line junctions in Station Road will be delivered April/May 2026.
New Clerk: We would like to welcome Letitia Martin who will work closely with our responsible financial officer Carly Small.
