📅 SAVE THE DATE – Monday 13 July, 9:30am
📍 Cedars Family Hub, Hemsworth (WF9 4PU)

It’s just one month to go until our friendly coffee morning where you can find out all about the exciting opportunity to become a Parent Group Leader and learn how to deliver our EPEC Being a Parent course to other parents ☕✨

To get started, all you need to be is a parent or carer who’s keen to build your knowledge and support others on their parenting journey.

The Parent Group Leader course is in two parts:
• Complete the “Being a Parent” course
• Learn how to deliver the "Being a Parent" course to other parents

The course is certified, starts in September, and gives you the chance to make a real difference—supporting local families to thrive and feel happier.

Come along next month to find out more and see if it’s right for you!

🙋‍♀️ Cheryl will be there to answer any questions.

As Infant Mental Health Week comes to a close, we’re sharing Togetherness’ FREE online pathways focused on supporting children’s mental health and wellbeing.

Most of the pathways help build emotional resilience and wellbeing, but two go a little deeper:
🔹 Understanding your child’s feelings
Explore ideas and techniques to better understand your child’s emotions and behaviour, helping you support and nurture them.
🔹 Understanding your child’s mental health and wellbeing
Gain insight into how children process emotions and learn ways to support them through challenges such as anxiety, depression and self-harm.

👇Explore the pathways by following the link in the comments.

Potty training is an exciting step in your child’s journey, and every child gets there in their own time.

While we know all children develop at different paces, guidance suggests that most children are ready to move away from nappies (including pull-ups and training pants) somewhere between 18 and 30 months. This can really help support healthy bladder and bowel development.

It’s helpful for children to be confidently out of nappies before starting Reception, unless there’s a medical reason (such as a diagnosed bladder or bowel condition).

Being nappy-free isn’t just about development — it can boost your child’s confidence, help them feel part of the group, and allow teachers to focus more on learning and play.

The Potty Training Guide has information on when and how to potty train your child. Link in the comments 👇

Last week was Volunteers' Week and as the Volunteer Co-ordinator I wanted to acknowledge the strong Volunteer team we have working in our Youth and Family Hubs across the district. We can't thank them enough for their daily support.

The Volunteers undertake a wide range of tasks and they are given lots of opportunities to get involved and undertake training where possible. Below is one of our Volunteers who has successfully completed their First Aid at Work training.

Our Volunteers are awarded Citizen Coins (https://www.citizencoin.uk/) every time they work and since the scheme started they have worked over 1,300 hours!!

Yesterday I met face to face with some of our Volunteers for a catch up which is always lovely to do. They were updated on what's happening in the hubs, service and wider Council and it was their opportunity to also ask our Head of Service and senior staff questions about their work.

If you are interested to find out more about becoming a volunteer with us please email: [email protected] or visit the link in Comments.

Thank you everyone from Joanne
