Small Saints this Sunday!

Come along to learn more about the story of Joseph and his special coat, and help your children to make their own special coat.

4pm-5pm at All Saints Fawley. Aimed at families with children under 5, but older siblings also welcome.

Yesterday I was lucky to be invited to Marchwood Port to celebrate the unveiling of the Mulberry Harbour "Whale" D-Day road-section.

This iconic section of the Mulberry Harbour was in the water at Southampton, near the Isle Of Wight ferry until recently. It has now been restored to its former glory and will act as a gate guardian at Marchwood Military Port.

The Mulberry Harbours were an integral part of the D-Day operation and have strong ties to the Waterside, Marchwood served as a construction site for the ‘Whale’ bridges and Lepe still has elements visible in the water from where troops departed.

Designed by Major Allan Beckett MBE, these floating roadways provided the means to offload troops, vehicles, and supplies
onto the beaches of Normandy on that all important mission.

A wonderful, tangible reminder of the impressive engineering, ingenuity and bravery of those that served on that pivotal mission - Operation Overlord.
