Enjoy workshops and seasonal events throughout the year. Near Faversham, Kent. The beautiful Georgian house of Belmont, amid its parkland, commands stunning views of the rolling Kent countryside and is a completely unspoilt and distinctive example of the work of the architect Samuel Wyatt. In 1801, the house was bought at public auction by General George Harris (later Lord Harris) who had defeated
the Tipu, Sultan of Mysore in 1799 at the battle of Seringapatam. The acquisition was made with prize money from his successful military career. Belmont contains fabulous mementos of the family's history and travels - paintings, furniture, Indian silverware and perhaps the finest private clock collection in the country. The Gardens at Belmont are full of interest throughout every season. The Kitchen Garden was originally designed by Lady Arabella Lennox-Boyd and has beautiful Victorian Greenhouses as well as hop arbours, fruit arches, an ornamental pond, and a semi-circle hedge of Pyrus Chanticleer. The Walled Garden to the rear of the stable yard is an intimate enclosed garden with long borders containing an abundance of annuals and perennials. The garden opens out onto sweeping views of the parkland in front of the House
We sell plants and seasonal produce from the Kitchen Garden. The Gardens are open all year round from 10am to 6pm (or dusk if earlier).
