All,
You will be aware that Kyle Bury lost his appeal against dismissal today.
This was an attack on a well respected individual, where the balance of new evidence submitted to the appeal clearly outlined Kyle was not responsible for the ABH he was accused of and were on the charge sheet of his disciplinary. This evidence included a statement from the alleged victim of the ABH attack categorically stating it was not Kyle that committed the offence as well as evidence from his solicitor outlining they believe the caution had a strong chance of being quashed and they are formally challenging Essex Police on these grounds.
Over the coming days FBU officials will release more information about the considerable issues facing members in Surrey at this time, but would urge every single one of you to give strong consideration on how much longer firefighters and FBU members can stand idly by, allowing SLT to treat them with such contempt clearly abusing their position.
What happened to Kyle could happen to anyone of us, this must be challenged in the strongest manner possible.
FBU members are the heartbeat of Surrey FRS, without you the service cannot function and for too long management have taken this for granted.
They have imposed shift patterns that are unfit for purpose, restricted your ability to take annual leave when you wish, refuse to engage with your elected FBU officials and have reduced the establishment to unsafe levels.
This must be stopped, it must be halted for the residents of Surrey, for those currently suffering as an employee of Surrey FRS and also for those who will come after us.
We are custodians of the service; let us stand, fight and secure the working practices we and all those that will follow us in the years to come meet deserve.
