🌳 A big thank you to Simba and Tom from the B&NES Council tree team for dealing with the fallen tree at The Rec today — much appreciated! 👏

As part of our commitment to keeping Farmborough's green spaces safe and well-maintained, the Parish Council carries out an annual tree survey across all our facilities — The Memorial Hall, The Rec, and the Allotments. Any issues identified are followed up with planned works.

There's still some further tree work scheduled before the end of the month across all three sites 📅, so you may see more activity in the village over the coming weeks. 🪚

PUBLIC NOTICE OF GRASS TREATMENT
Farmborough Recreation Ground
Friday 5 September
10am to 2pm

A treatment of the grass is planned at The Rec on Friday 5 September, to improve its quality and make it more resilient to increased use.

The treatment is not harmful but could cause a slight reaction if ingested.

While The Rec will still be accessible, please avoid walking dogs on the field between 10am and 2pm or touching the grass with your hands during this period.

This notice is only applicable to the Recreation Ground; all other surrounding fields are unaffected.

Apologies for any inconvenience this may cause.

💥💥💥Another new addition to The Rec!💥💥💥

Thanks to a generous donation from Kingsbeech Ltd, Farmborough Parish Council has purchased and installed an all year round outdoor table tennis table next to the MUGA. 🏓 🏓 🏓 🏓

Many thanks to Cllr Martin Carter, Cllr Phil Gray, Adrian Rogers and Cllr Sam Ross for wrangling all the bits together and getting all bolts tightened before it got properly dark. Some parts of the assembly were definitely not in the manual! (See second photo.)🪛🔧

Thanks also to the evening dog walkers for stopping to say hello and cheer the workers on. 🐕👷‍♂️

All that’s missing now is you! Bring your bats and balls and one to three friends for fun times. 🏓🥳🕺

Public Safety Works - Recreation Ground - Thurs-Fri 26-27 June

Work is scheduled to be carried out on the septic tank and storm drain chambers between the Pavilion and the MUGA on Thursday and Friday of this week. This will involve clearing the drains, replacing failing brickwork and the covers.

The Pavilion and MUGA will still be accessible during these works, but the grass area between them will be fenced off for safety. Please keep your dogs under control in this area throughout the works.

It's been a busy year so far!

🏡We've seen the Pavilion refurbished and reopened.
🏏We've welcomed Temple Cloud Cricket Club to the Rec.
👩🏼‍💻We've hired a new Clerk - welcome, Debbie Tutchell!
🧍🏼‍♀️We've gained a new councillor - welcome, Agnies Nowak!
⛹🏽‍♂️And we're looking forward to the new Youth Club opening in July.

👉🏻👉🏻👉🏻However, we have so much more in the pipeline, including MUGA improvements, replacing play equipment, and introducing new fitness equipment to the Rec.👈🏼👈🏼👈🏼

Many thanks to Cllr Phil Gray and Kieran Gray for installing a new cabinet and defib at the school (preschool entrance) today.

This cabinet and defib replace the old unit which had stopped working and was decommissioned.

This defib is the same as the one installed at the pavilion on the Rec, so is fully automatic and able to be used on both adults and children.

Please note that the three bins next to the pavilion are managed by Temple Cloud Cricket Club. Please only use them to dispose of glass bottles, plastic bottles and cans, and general waste when enjoying the pavilion facilities during matches and events.

Please do not use these for disposing of dog waste!

Dog waste should only be disposed of in the bins in the car park, or one of the other two bins located at the far side of the rec adjacent to Brookside Drive or Tilley Lane.

Busy afternoon on the Rec today.

Lots of kids playing football with the new nets, plenty of dog walkers and Temple Cloud CC playing at home.

Both moveable goal posts are now up on The Rec.

Thanks to Cllrs Phil Gray and Mark Goodchild, Nick Townsend and Richard Appleyard for getting the second one constructed this morning.

Lovely to see the kids making good use of them this weekend.
