Mud season has officially arrived for us again!

🟤School trousers.

🟤And somehow there are muddy footprints in places nobody remembers walking.

Autumn certainly keeps the washing machine (and us!) busy. But here's something soft-water households don't always realise… your detergent matters too.

Many conventional detergents are formulated with hard water in mind, and using more detergent than you need in softened water can contribute to residue on fabrics.

That's why we stock washing powder specifically designed for homes with soft water.

If you've got a softener but your washing – particularly towels – isn't feeling quite as you'd expect, it may be worth looking at what you're putting into the machine.

That white, chalky build-up is one of the most obvious signs of hard water.

You can keep descaling the kettle – but if you're regularly seeing scale there, chances are it's appearing elsewhere in your home too.

A water softener should quietly get on with its job in the background. So if something suddenly seems different, it's worth investigating.

Perhaps:

💧 There's more water than usual in the salt compartment.
💧 Your salt doesn't seem to be going down.
💧 You've noticed limescale beginning to return.
💧 It's making a noise you've never heard before.
💧 Your water just doesn't feel as soft as it normally does.

It doesn't automatically mean you need a new softener. Sometimes there's a relatively straightforward problem that can be repaired.

That's why we always recommend getting it checked rather than ignoring it and hoping it sorts itself out.

Dave is out delivering around Hampshire twice a week, or you're welcome to pop into the unit and collect your salt from us.

After keeping it under wraps all this time, we’ve now heard that the episode is finally going to be shown:

We’re incredibly excited to finally see the finished programme and, most importantly, to see the transformation created for the family by so many people coming together and donating their time, skills and products. It was something very special to be a small part of.

And obviously there’s now one VERY important challenge for all our Vickery customers… can you spot Matt?! 👀

Always learning, always improving.

Matt and Lindsey headed to Broadstairs last week for another valuable day with fellow members of the Association of Independent Water Softener Experts (AIWSE).

The day was packed with industry updates, shared knowledge and discussions about where the water-treatment industry is heading.

For us, being part of an association like AIWSE is about more than attending training days. It’s an opportunity to learn from other independent experts, share experiences and make sure we’re keeping up with the latest standards and developments.

All of which helps us continue giving our customers knowledgeable, up-to-date advice and a service they can trust.

And apparently the new kneeling mats were a highlight too… very useful when you spend as much time under kitchen sinks as Matt does! 😄

We’ve been keeping a rather BIG secret… 👀

Some of you might remember that last year we disappeared off to a very special installation in Southampton.

There were lots of people on site. There may have been a few cameras around. And Matt had to try very hard to pretend they weren’t there while he worked… 🎥
