Minecraft continues to be a highly popular platform for children, combining creativity, problem-solving and social interaction.

While the game can offer positive opportunities for learning and play, features such as public servers, multiplayer modes and in-game communication can create safeguarding challenges.

Our latest guide supports educators and parents in understanding these risks and helping children play more safely.

The guide explores:
• Public server communication and contact with unknown players
• Griefing, disruptive behaviour and online conflict
• In-game spending and subscription costs
• Addictive gameplay loops and balanced screen time
• Safer settings, private servers and suitable game modes

With clear, practical advice, the guide helps adults set boundaries, encourage safer choices and support responsible Minecraft use.

This morning, our Little Troopers had the honour of representing King Charles at this year’s VE Day memorial service in Kimberley Park.

It was a beautiful and moving service, giving us all a chance to pause, reflect, and remember. We are incredibly proud of our children, who were, as always, wonderful ambassadors for our school.

We are artists!
Inspired by the beautiful natural artwork of Andy Goldsworthy, our Early Years children explored creativity, teamwork, and the outdoors by making their own pieces of art.
Their collaborative pieces are absolutely wonderful and they had a lot of fun creating them too!

Congratulations to Martha, Louis, Oisin, Rory and Josh from Years 4 and 5 for winning the Falmouth Fauna competition, a collaboration with Falmouth School and Falmouth University to design a new mural for Falmouth, inspired by local fauna.
As well as winning themselves cinema vouchers and art materials, elements from the winners' designs will be incorporated into the final mural. Well done to you all!

Feeling so proud of Emma Seager, who was invited onto Radio Cornwall this afternoon to talk about our wonderful school garden and the amazing work she does with the children there. Listen back to around 12:35pm today on the Toby Buckland programme to hear the full interview. Well done Mrs Seager!

Junior Life Skills Afternoon

This week, Year 5 had the fantastic opportunity to visit Falmouth Community Fire Station for a Junior Life Skills event. During a busy and varied afternoon, our pupils truly shone with their engagement, curiosity and enthusiasm!
The children took part in a series of short, hands-on workshops led by experts. Topics included:
✅ Electrical safety – children were tasked with checking smoke alarms at home. Have you checked yours recently?
✅ CPR and choking response – pupils were encouraged to find out where their nearest defibrillator is
✅ Rail safety – two powerful, real-life stories reminded us all to stay alert near train lines
✅ Cyber security – we learned that short passwords are easy to crack, so aim for 12 characters or more!
✅ Civil enforcement – discussions about double yellow lines, school zig zags, and litter responsibility
✅ The dangers of smoking – a clear message about making healthy choices
✅ Using the bus – tips on travelling safely and confidently
It was an amazing opportunity to learn essential life skills in a fun, practical way — and we’re so grateful to everyone who made it possible. Thank you to the organisers, workshop leaders and Falmouth Community Fire Station for hosting us!
