Canada geese were first introduced to the UK in St. James's Park, London, in the 17th century. Today, the UK population is over 150,000 birds! I have seen more of them recently flying over Falmouth's beaches. Earlier this month whilst on Swanpool 2 flocks flew over the beach, so I went to look at the lake, and there they were. This is the first time I personally have seen them there. Have you??

Another marine mammal washed up on Swanpool Beach yesterday. The dolphin was attended by Marine Strandings Network (MSN) Volunteers who collect data which goes to help ascertain cause of death. It was disposed of by the council as it was not “fresh”. If a marine mammal is freshly deceased, MSN will often take for post mortem.
If you ever spot a deceased marine animal, please report to Marine Strandings Network on 0345 201 2626. If animal is already tagged (see image) then no need to report.
If stranded animal is alive call British Divers Marine Life Rescue 01825 765546.
