Emergency alerts will be sent to mobile phones at 5pm today - January 8 - as Storm Goretti hits Cornwall.

It will contain information on the red weather warning and how to stay safe.

Compatible mobile phones will make a loud siren-like sound even if they are set on silent. The sound and vibration will last for about 10 seconds.

Those experiencing domestic abuse with hidden phones could be put at risk if the device is discovered.

You can opt out in your phone’s settings to protect your safety.

iPhone - Search “Emergency Alerts” in settings → Turn off Severe & Emergency alerts

Android - Search “Emergency Alerts” in settings → Turn off Severe & Emergency alerts (and other threat categories if listed)

GREAT NEWS!

We are delighted to announce we are re-scheduling the Christmas Drive Through Grotto to Wednesday 5:30pm-7:30pm!

🎄 Important Christmas Update – Grotto Cancelled 🎄

We’re very sorry to announce that tonight’s grotto is cancelled.

Santa has been trying his very best, but with all this rain he’s told us that his sleigh just can’t land safely at the station tonight!

We know how disappointing this is, and we’re truly sorry — the elves, crews, dancing polar bear and Santa himself were all looking forward to seeing you.

We’re looking at options to reschedule and will keep everyone updated as soon as we have more information.

Thank you for your understanding, and we hope you stay safe and dry, and full of Christmas cheer this evening.

Happy Bonfire Night! Enjoy the celebrations safely with a few quick reminders..

🔥 Think of neighbours – smoke can affect people’s health, and bonfires should be well away from fences, trees, and power lines.

🦔 Check before you light! Hedgehogs and other small animals often hide in wood piles.

🎆 Follow the Firework Code – keep water nearby, light one at a time, and never return to a lit firework.

✨ Sparklers get five times hotter than cooking oil – wear gloves and supervise children.

🐴 Warn neighbours with animals or livestock – fireworks can cause real distress.

Let’s enjoy the sparkle safely while looking after each other, our animals, and our countryside. 🌾🐕
