Staff spotlight!

Mark Devin has joined the team as our new Deputy Clerk. As he settles in and learns the ropes, Mark will gradually take over from our outgoing Deputy, Chetna Jones.

Rest assured, Chetna is still working for the Town Council but will focus on strategy and future project planning to ensure we are ready for the imminent Local Government Restructure.

Welcome to the team, Mark 😀

👓THE RURAL LENS 🤓

This is a great initiative from Devon Communities Together!

The Rural Lens campaign invites individuals to share their experiences and perspectives on rural life in Devon.

The campaign encourages people to put on the green frames and use the term "rural lens" to describe their observations and experiences, contributing to a more informed and supportive community environment for rural Devon.

Here's our Climate Officer Zoey Cooper talking about her move from London to Devon three and a half years ago.

To discover what other people are saying, head over to the website - and look out for Mayor Councillor Graham Deasy, when he puts on the green frames!

There's often some confusion about what a local town council does, as opposed to a district or county council.

This video breaks down how town, parish, and community councils work in England and Wales, what they can (and can't) do, and how you can get involved: https://youtu.be/uvA3u44JCQw?si=HlKXtPX8bg3xcko8

This week we’re celebrating Local Council Clerk Week (8–12 June) – a chance to recognise the incredible work clerks do in communities across the country.

Here in Exmouth, we’re proud to have Lisa Bowman as our Town Clerk. Lisa shared a little about what the role means to her:

“As a clerk, I am often working behind the scenes and helping deliver services that matter to our community. None of this happens in isolation – it’s very much a team effort at Exmouth Town Council, working closely with councillors, staff and partners to achieve the best outcomes for our communities.

I'm proud to be part of a profession, and a team, that help make local democracy work every day.”

Thank you, Lisa, for everything you do for Exmouth 🙏

🎨✨ A brand-new graffiti wall has now been installed at Phear Park! ✨🎨

Completed last Friday, the new wall replaces the previous graffiti wall, which was originally installed in 2014 and had reached the end of its useful life.

The project was approved by Exmouth Town Council's Section 106 & CIL Working Party and provides a refreshed space for creative expression, community artwork and street art for local residents to enjoy.

🌟 We are delighted to see this popular community feature renewed and look forward to seeing the creativity and talent that will be showcased on the new wall in the years ahead.

🌳 Honouring 30 Years of Service to Exmouth 🌳

On 9 June, Exmouth Town Council representatives, including Deputy Mayor Cllr Dianne Conduit and Town Clerk Lisa Bowman, gathered on Cranford Avenue to thank retired County Councillor Christine Channon for an incredible 30 years of service to Exmouth, especially to the Littleham community.

A silver birch tree – Christine’s favourite – was planted in the autumn by our Town Maintenance team and is now growing beautifully. A plaque recognising her dedication was presented on the day and will be placed beside the tree.

Cllr Mark Williamson spoke about Christine’s tireless support for Littleham residents and local organisations over the decades. Christine shared her thanks with everyone who made her years of service so enjoyable, offering her best wishes to residents – and to the tree – for the future.
