NHS Devon NHS Devon is proud to be part of One Devon. We are the local headquarters for the NHS in Devon.

NHS Devon CCG is responsible for commissioning, or buying, most healthcare services for the local population. We operate in an area of diversity with large urban cities such as Plymouth, and remote rural areas such as Dartmoor. We plan local healthcare and buy services from large acute hospitals, such as the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital, along with community services and mental health services.

We are dedicated to the principles of the NHS – a universal service, free at the point of delivery, where the quality and safety of services is of utmost importance. We are determined to work with our local communities and other partners in our area, to improve people’s health and make sure they are able to receive high quality, local services.

NHS Devon wants to develop neighbourhood health services that make it easier for people to get the right support earlier, closer to home and in a more joined-up way. This means shaping care around local communities, with GPs, community services, mental health, social care, voluntary organisations and other local partners working more closely together.

We are working with local libraries, councils and public health teams to provide blood pressure kits which can be borrowed to enable people to check their blood pressure at home. The kits include a monitor, a simple instruction leaflet, a blood pressure diary to record the readings, and advice on what to do if numbers are high.
Our aim is to encourage more people to regularly check their blood pressure at home – and submit their reading to their GP – as it could save their life.

🌈 In partnership with Cornwall Pride, we're sharing the stories of local people who are helping others learn more about the NHS Pharmacy First service.

Meet Abigail, one of our Pharmacy First ambassadors. Like many people balancing busy and unpredictable schedules, Abigail values having a healthcare service that fits around everyday life.

Community pharmacies are at the heart of our towns and villages, providing trusted healthcare advice close to home. Through the NHS Pharmacy First service, local pharmacists can assess and treat seven common conditions without the need for a GP appointment.

Pharmacy First can help with:
✅ Earache (children aged 1–17)
✅ Sore throat
✅ Sinusitis
✅ Infected insect bites
✅ Impetigo
✅ Shingles
✅ Uncomplicated urinary tract infections (UTIs) in women

By working alongside Cornwall Pride and local Pharmacy First ambassadors, we're helping to raise awareness of the healthcare support available in our communities and making it easier for people to access the right care, in the right place, at the right time.
